Weekly Top Ten Wild Card: Pop Rocks

It’s pop versus rock on today’s edition of the Weekly Top Ten Wild Card. In one side of the ring, we have the annoyingly hyphenated Diddy-Dirty Money along with up-and-coming songwriter Oh Land. In the other corner, we’ve got Linkin Park and Cake, two bands who are making waves on the modern rock charts.

So who’s going to win this round? Click through to take a listen and cast your vote! If you’re not digging any of these options, feel free to leave a comment with your favorite tune. While we can’t guarantee that it’ll make its way to these pages, we’ll try our best to give it a chance.

– Dewitt

Diddy-Dirty Money f/ Skylar Grey – Coming Home: It’s amazing that even with the help of ghostwriters, Diddy still manages to churn out some of the worst hip-hop lyrics of all time. Nevertheless, he may have struck gold with the fifth single attempt from Last Train To Paris. This one’s already getting love from the radio stations, even though J. Cole’s version is significantly better…

Linkin Park – Waiting For The End: Sure, the drum beat sounds like the same loop from Rihanna’s “Umbrella”, but it’s way better than their last single from A Thousand Suns. In fact, this is the best thing I’ve heard from Linkin Park since their debut album. Emphasis on “I’ve heard”, because I stopped paying attention to them around… um, Reanimation?

Oh Land – Sun Of A Gun: This promo single has been sitting on my desk for months, and it’s taken me way too long to finally watch the music video. I’m definitely digging singer and producer Nanna Øland Fabricius’ style. Apparently, she’s been making pretty awesome (and less poppy) music for a while now…

Cake – Sick Of You: I’m well aware that National Beard Month has come to an end, but I can’t help it if I like John McCrea’s face. Plus, there are dancing bunnies in this music video! Do you need any other reason to vote for this song. Dancing bunnies, guys.

  1. The best video was by Linkin Park, but I am not feeling the song. Sorry, Dewitt….I am not voting this week because the choices are not great. So we should expect to see P!nk on the number one spot for another couple of weeks.

  2. Oh Land’s Sun of a Gun all the way – love it, and the EP on iTunes that has Sun of a Gun on it – Wolf and I is a BEAUTIFUL song!

  3. I voted for Oh Land, but frankly Dewitt, you were very lazy this week with the selections. This one has been sitting in your desk for months?

  4. What’s with the lame ass choices this weekend. We gave you several requests over the weekend and you ignored them. And then you say that we have the last word and our suggestions are heard.
