Weekly Top Ten Wild Card: Nicki Minaj Showdown

You might as well get used to Nicki Minaj. By the end of the year, she’ll have recorded collaborations with every hip-hop, R&B and pop vocalist in existence. Or at least she’ll come close! Given her omnipresence in the radio-friendly realm, we thought we’d dedicate an entire Wild Card round to her featured appearances.

Today’s round includes vaguely new music by Jay Sean, Gyptian, Sean Kingston and Trey Songz. All four songs are complete with a guest verse by Minaj, so if you’re not a fan of her zany raps… you can either sit this one out or vote for the one with “bottom” in the title.

To listen and cast your vote, follow the JUMP:

Jay Sean f/ Nicki Minaj – 2012: Isn’t it a bit too early for this? I mean, I guess Prince recorded “1999” back in 1982, but people will forget about this song by the time the ball drops on December 31, 2011. Though this may get some play on the radio, we’re not quite sure if it screams “song of summer”.

Gyptian f/ Nicki Minaj – Hold Yuh (Remix): This one’s been banging out of car windows ever since it popped up on the airwaves, and I can’t deny that I’ve occasionally been taken in by its charm. Hmm, but there haven’t been many reggae artists on our Weekly Top Ten in the past…

Sean Kingston f/ Nicki Minaj – Letting Go (Dutty Love): While my immediate instinct is to hate everything Sean Kingston releases, this one gets stuck in my head every time I hear it. With that said, catchy doesn’t necessarily equal “good”, so don’t expect me to declare my love just yet.

Trey Songz f/ Nicki Minaj – Bottoms Up: At this point, I’m beginning to realize that most of Nicki Minaj’s collaborations are complete garbage. But this one has the word “bottom” in the title! If you can’t vote for a song you actually like, you might as well vote for one that reflects your sex life…

  1. I love Nicki Minaj! She is a very talented rapper, however, I would agree that a lot of the songs she is featured in are not the greatest. Two amazing collaborations she is part of are Mariah Carey’s ‘Up outta my face’ and Xtina’s ‘WooHoo’.

  2. Nicki Minaj is the hottest female in the game right now! Sorry Trina, my love. Her flow is sick and her timing is perfect! Right now, it’s all about exposure. Get yourself seen and heard as much as possible! With that beind said, the real test will be her solo project slated to drop in November. Interesting that the collaborations from Young Money’s CD were not included here. IMHO, some of her best raps are on those songs.

  3. Her bottoms up verse is pretty nice, but this manhunt and none of these songs will last more than week on the charts.

  4. Hold yuh is my pick. I love the original of that song and the remix is actually pretty good.

Not really into nicki minaj. That being said, this is her time right now so she should enjoy it.
I’m waiting for Foxy Brown and Remy Ma to come back out and take the game back over because they really can spit.

  5. Love me some Nicki. I think her bests are: I Get Crazy, Itty Bitty Piggy, Usher’s Lil’ Freak, and Mariah’s Up Out My Face. I love her flow on Trey’s song, but Gyptian’s is the best overall.
