Weekly Top Ten: Expanding Horizons

weekly top ten, gay, music, countdown, charts, vote, voting, Mariah Carey, Nikki Minaj, Sade, Lady Gaga, Alicia Keys, Goldfrapp, Kaylah Marin, Pink, Breaking Benjamin, Lady Antebellum, Erykah Badu

For this week's Weekly Top Ten charts on Manhunt Daily, we've decided to incorporate a variety of the sounds and genres we've been exploring this week. From country to rock, we're departing from our standard mix of pop and dance music. But will any of these new selections make it to the next round? That's for you to decide!

You've already sent Roisin Murphy, Ellie Goulding, Gabriella Cilmi and Darius Rucker out on their asses, so there's no telling what power your votes will have. Speaking of votes, Carrie Underwood, Dan Black and Cheryl Cole didn't quite receive enough, as they've all been eliminated in the Wild Card round.

If you're a Weekly Top Ten virgin, be prepared to sacrifice your butthole to the god of the charts. Or we could just tell you the rules… Each week you'll be presented with ten songs. You get to vote for up to three moving to the next week. From those results, we'll take the five tunes with the highest percentages, a song we saved and four other contributions. These selections will make up the following week's charts.

So how do you get your favorite song on the list? Dancing naked while juggling seventeen dildos, but of course. Alternatively, if you don't like what you see here, leave a comment with your suggestions for next week. We listen to nearly every song you recommend, and if it gives us goosebumps… you might see it here next time around!

– Dewitt

To check out the charts and vote, follow the JUMP:

  1. Lady Gaga – Bad Romance (LW – 1): As much as we still love this song, we're starting to get tired of consistently seeing it at the number one spot. We're this close to breaking down and including "Telephone" before the video's released. Because if no one can beat Lady Gaga, maybe she can beat herself.
  2. Sade – Soldier of Love (LW – 2): Two weeks at number two, and Sade's still not any closer to overtaking the queen of our charts. I'm just glad she's still in the running! This tale of overcoming heartbreak and marching on in life must really resonate with y'all.
  3. Mariah Carey f/ Nikki Minaj – Up Out My Face (Remix) (LW – 10): I've been loving this song since Mariah's album dropped, and Nikki Minaj just makes it even better. Plus, the drag queens they got to play them in the music video are really impressive! They should seriously consider auditioning for RuPaul's Drag Race.
  4. Alicia Keys – Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart (LW – 6): Phew! It looked like Alicia was in danger last week, and now she's back where she belongs. Can you keep her in the top five please? We'd rather not worry about her anymore.
  5. Goldfrapp – Rocket (LW – 9): With a surprisingly low percentage, Goldfrapp has swooped into the number five spot with the debut single from their upcoming album Head First. Insert obvious gay sex joke about riding rockets.
  6. Kaylah Marin – On The Floor (Oh Baby Please) (LW – 8): Kaylah may not have gotten as many votes as Ellie or Roisin, but she got a whole lot of love in the comments section! Since she's unofficially the "people's choice", we thought we'd do you a favor and save her this week. Be sure to listen to the original version of this song! It's absolutely great.
  7. Pink – Glitter In The Air (DEBUT): Given all the well-deserved hype Pink's been getting for her performance at the Grammys, I wouldn't be surprised if this song hopped to the number one spot! Okay, so maybe that's a long shot. Let's at least vote her to the top five!
  8. Breaking Benjamin – Give Me A Sign (DEBUT): A commenter on this post enthusiastically urged us to, "Send those dancing pussy boi queens home and bring on the real music." But we like those dancing pussy boi queens! And how is this music any realer than the other selections?
  9. Lady Antebellum – Need You Now (RETURN): After the Grammys and their impressive Billboard debut, it only seemed fair to bring Lady Antebellum back to the charts. This goes out to anyone who's disappointed that Carrie Underwood didn't make it in the Wild Card round.
  10. Erykah Badu f/ Lil Wayne & Bilal – Jump Up In The Air (Stay There) (DEBUT): The critics love her, but do you share their enthusiasm? With this web-only bonus track, Erykah and company would like to inject our charts with something different. Now it's up to you to decide if you want something different.

  1. Up Out My Face is HOT!
    Rocket is still a BLAST!
and I don’t just need Lady Antebullum NOW, I’ll be needing this song for a long time.

  2. Same votes as last week.
Alicia can go now, love ‘Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart’ to death but I’d rather see Kaylah in there again! Thanks for saving her this week Dewitt.

  3. Let’s send Sade to #1. Gaga has been on top for about 2 months now. Loving Goldfrapp a lot and my suggestion for next week is “Morning Sun” by Robbie Williams. Hope we don’t have to wait for the video to see it on the chart or the wild card.

  4. when is telephone releasing? cant wait!
oh and love breaking benjamin btw been following them for about years now, but i will not bow is a better song than give me a sign

  5. now that Breaking Benjamin has shown that modern rock can make it on your charts, my request this week is Shinedown’s “If You Only Knew”. Can’t stop listening to it.

  6. Timbaland featuring Katy Perry – If We Ever Meet Again
Breezy pop is awesome. Hated the song at first but I haven’t stopped listening to it since I heard it on the radio.
