Was Whitney Houston Ready For Her Comeback?

Whitney Houston

By now, most of you have probably seen Whitney Houston's nearly tragic performance on The X Factor. She may have been feeling like a million dollar bill, but she sure as hell wasn't sounding or looking like one. While it's easy to laugh at her premature verse, wardrobe malfunction and embarrassing interview technique, this all serves as a sad reminder that the diva is no longer what she used to be.

Do you think Whitney will ever come close to channeling the energy of her glory days? It'd be quite impossible for her to get her voice back, but it'd be nice if her name stopped being synonymous with "trainwreck".

  1. I didn’t think it was that bad. The dress, it could happen to anyone, it wasn’t like her titties popped out. I don’t understand why people are being critical of her, when there are other singers that can’t/barely sing live out there. Just my opinion.

  2. it wasnt as bad as ur making it sound.
but her interview made me feel like she was on something.
but robbie williams looked drugged out the week before too!
so maybe they are slipping them stuff in their green room water!

  3. No one expected her to comeback with the old voice and old persona. This is a dif. whitney.
i didn’t think the performance was that bad, it as better then the flic i saw of her singing at central park.
    ~

  4. You should have posted the performance of her on Italy’s X factor that she did just a couple days after. She’s still got it.

  5. Wow I expected this to be a tragic hot mess after reading the intro, but it definitely wasn’t! And since when did you gain the status to judge a singer Dewitt? LOL! I happen to be a music major double majoring in saxophone and voice so I can judge singers. To me it sounded like she was going hoarse or she had some kind of upper respiratory illness. And dealing with either one is a hard thing to do when you are a professional singer! And as for her interview; there are a lot of things going on in your head when you are under pressure like that so it’s hard to think straight. Especially for someone like Whitney, who is trying to make a comeback!

  6. She is out of shape and can barely get out one song that isn’t a vocal stretch…She had an amazing gift that she squandered, and her lack of professionalism to make her worthy of a look is evident these days. She had her day and she is done – you’ll never see her tour again

  7. I for one am rooting for Whitney. You have to remember, her voice was not being used for the gift she has been given, for a very long time. So, Yes, she has to use it continuously to get back to being close to how she used to be. I still think she can keep a note, better than some that haven’t really taken a break. (If anyone watched America’s Got Talent, when a certain someone’s wife per- well sort of performed, not that she doesn’t sound great recorded).

  8. I am glad that I am not the only one that had noticed this. I am rooting for Whitney as well and I def think she was just not feeling well that night. She had some awesome dancers and I liked how she played around with her wardrobe malfunction. And I agree, it could happen to anyone so there is no need to make it out to be such a big deal.
I guess we just have to wait and she what she puts out next. 🙂

  9. Dewitt you bitter bitch. Let’s watch you walk down a flight of stairs in Jimmy Choo 8″ heels and long gown….
If she had been lip synching you would have criticized her for that!
    Stop hating !!

  10. All I can say is its really hard pulling yourself back together after drug addiction. I speak from experience. Shes not Whitney of the 1980’s but by god if I had been there I would had been rooting her on because she has finally conquered one of the worst demons there is… self loathing.

  11. shame on clive davies for making her realease this crap song as a first single. wtf? she should have done something along the lines of ‘we belong together’. shame really.
and btw, the performance wasn’t that bad dewitt. i expected such a fiasco after i read ur comments.

  12. If you want the Whitney Houston from the ’80’s then go buy that albums from those days! I luv Whitney and like the performance

  13. WHY DO WE EVEN LEND AN EAR TO WHAT THESE POSTERS SAY? THEY ALWAYS MAKE THINGS TO BE 50X WORSE OR BETTER THAN THEY REALLY ARE.

  14. I think your assumptions about what “most of us” are doing with our time are hilarious! Whitney Houston??? X-Factor??? We must be living on different planets….

  15. Obviously drugs and alcohol have taken their toll. She is not the singer she was by a long shot. After listening to this I would be surprised if she actually sings 40% of the song and backup singers sing the other 60%. She seems to sing the same couple of sentences over and over. Its a shame.

  16. Observe I would like 2 know WTF have u been observing she clearly is not out of shape and her performance was not that bad !!! Will we ever c the Whitney Houston of old
probably not but I give her all the props and wish her all the best !!! BTW Dewitt at least Whitney is trying 2 get her act 2getheer wish u could say the same 4 all the superficial, hypercritical drug out whack jobs on this site !!!!

  17. Her live performance wasn’t bad at all. After all she put herself through trying to climb back will take some time. Someone should be reprimanded for the wardrobe malfunction. The dress was to long and straps not strong enough, she shouldn’t have had to constantly kick the hem out of her way. Her voice may not be what it once was but she was clearly not lip synching. Would love to hear what Simon’s comments were after her performance. I’d give her a 7 out of 10…Maybe an 8.
