Do you think there's too much crappy pop and dance music on Manhunt Daily's Weekly Top Ten? Here's your chance to change that! Based on your suggestions and our own random tastes, we've come up with four songs that'll compete for the final spot on our charts. Which one has what it takes to go all the way?

This week's edition features selections from Janelle Monae, Leona Lewis, Melanie Fiona and Bitch. I'm particularly biased against one of the competitors' entries, and it won't take you too long to discover which one it is. Sorry, I can't pretend to like something that's pure pop drivel!

UPDATE: Poll has been added. I obviously wasn't thinking with the right brain this morning.

———————————————————————————

Janelle Monáe f/ Big Boi – Tightrope: Recently, I saw someone call Janelle Monáe as the "lovechild of Grace Jones and James Brown", and that's probably the most accurate description I've ever seen written about her. Her debut full-length album will be dropping soon, preceded by this exciting collaboration with Big Boi of Outkast.

———————————————————————————

Leona Lewis – I Got You: Move over, Mariah? Maybe if Mariah's moving to her bed to take a nap after hearing this song. As much as I'm rooting for Leona to turn out something as atrociously addictive as "Bleeding Love", this crap definitely isn't it. My ears actually hurt while trying to listen to this. But maybe you'll have nicer things to say about it?

———————————————————————————

Melanie Fiona – It Kills Me: If you're a fan of Jill Scott, India Arie or Angie Stone, you'll be digging this number one R&B jam. Due to its mellow nature, it hasn't received much mainstream exposure, but it's definitely worth checking out. And have you heard the acoustic version? Absolutely beautiful.

———————————————————————————

Bitch – Kitchen: Though I'd be lying if I claimed to be familiar with Bitch prior to seeing Shortbus, "Kitchen" gets my head bobbing like crazy. How about showing some love for a queer independent artist? Because pretty much anything is better than Leona Lewis' latest single.

  1. Dewitt, when Mariah finally releases a new song for the first time in several years, then she can take a nap. Every one of her songs is the same song tweaked a little. They’re all midtempo and completely synthetic. She needs help.
