Video Ads In Print Publications Becoming Reality

Imagine opening up a magazine and seeing a video advertisement? I think most of us can agree that it sounds like a good idea but would probably get annoying really quickly! Is the future of advertising in this new technology? CBS is rolling out the first "video in print" in the new issue of Entertainment Weekly.

The problem, as you can tell by the video above, is that the video is rather loud and begins automatically after flipping the page. That sounds like a huge pain in the ass to me…

At least in this magazine you get to look at Neil Patrick Harris while the video blares. His hotness might reduce the annoying factor is all I'm saying…

  1. It was only a matter of time, I’m afraid. Fortunately, the only magazines I get print editions of (for now, at least) are The Advocate, Unzipped, and Home Handyman.

  2. Really? Do we really believe this isn’t just a hoax? Don’t we think that the video to promote it wouldn’t look like a viral video? Don’t we think we’d have heard about this on the…you know actual news, not manhuntdaily? If the technology to embed a video in something the thickness of a magazine page existed, I’m sure that that technology would first be used to make incredibly thin tvs, laptops, ipods, etc…not ads!
