Stuff Straight People Hate: The Word “Bromance”

Straight dudes hate being called out on their bromances. In fact, they pretty much hate hearing the word “bromance”, “mandate”, “bro-crush” or any similar term. We learned this the hard way when we drew attention to one of our heterosexual colleagues’ platonic bond with another co-worker. They didn’t respond well to this moment of truth.

Actually, they kind of just sat there and stared at us with blank expressions on their faces. But you could tell that inside of their brains, they were making plans to rip our faces off! We swear it’s true… Long story short, Brody Jenner single-handedly ruined friendship for straight men. That’s our story, and we’re sticking to it.

  1. I hate the term, “bromance”. My best friend and I have an awesome relationship that verges on romantic. We’re just that tuned into one another. It has nothing to do with attraction (physical at least) or sex – we just love each other in a very deep, meaningful way. Damned society seems to think that we have to be in love with each other. By the way, he is straight, married & has 3 children. He loves his wife, and is a great dad. We just have a great relationship that goes beyond ‘best friend’ – but not quite to what my partner and I have. It’s pretty cool, actually.

  2. I don’t fully understand your blog today, because I can’t determine whether Brody is the straight guy you are writing about, or yourself – as in: “Brody Jenner…ruined friendship for straight men”, nor do I understand whether his pix are really him, or as you say, “fake”… You are Dewitt, right, not Brody? I am so confused!!!

But the fotos are delicious, in any event!!!

  3. Lighten-up homophobes, LOL

The word “Bromance” is a geat way to describe a deep, plutonic relationship between men (Homo and/or Hetero) ! 😉

  4. If they hate it so much, why’d THEY invent it? I suppose some would say it transcends Homo/Hetero, but it applies to straight guys. Most gays I know (regardless of how butch they may be) who have a relationship as desribed above refere to each other as “girlfriends”.

    Just saying

  5. Yea, so sorry to hear that str8 guys hate the word “bromance”. As a little boy, I was just deeply in love with “faggot”, “pussy”, “panzy” and “queer”…you know, so deal with it and move on. Clearly Brody is owning it and understanding that it’s just a word and only has the power you give it…positively or negatively.
