Spidey Struggles, Angels Thrive

Angels in America

For the first time since 1994, playwright Tony Kushner's award-winning play Angels In America will make a return to New York. Both plays, Millennium Approaches and Perestroika, will run in repertory. And if you can handle sitting through a seven hour production, the Signature Theater Company is planning some performances in which the plays are depicted back to back.

In other theater related items, there's some bad news for the upcoming Spiderman musical. Or good news, depending on your thoughts on a singing man in red and blue tights. Upon Disney's acquisition of Marvel, the company expressed absolutely no interest in revitalizing the struggling production. Cast members Alan Cumming and Evan Rachel Wood were dismissed, and it looked like there wasn't any hope. And then a hero emerged. In the form of… Bono?

Lastly, Daniel Craig is apparently being a diva. He's demanded tight security as he works with Hugh Jackman on the show A Steady Rain, and the funniest part is that no one seems to even recognize him with that ridiculous porno mustache! Guess he realizes that fans like me would maul him and steal his clothes if he didn't have the proper back-up?

  1. I think it’s a bit exciting to hear that Angels will have new life on Broadway. Even if it’s crazy to try and do BOTH shows on at once…
Kind of bummed about Spider-man though. While not totally original….it would have been interesting to see how they accomplished all they had been hyping up.
