One story to come out of this election that did not get much airplay is that of Stu Rasmussen. On election day, he became the first openly transgender mayor in America after Silverton, Oregon overwhelmingly elected him.
After California's unfortunate passage of Prop. 8, there is at least one small town that saw past sexuality in making an informed decision. Hooray for Silverton!
