See inside Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka’s NYC home

Husbands Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka have given Architectural Digest a tour of their brownstone home in Harlem, New York City.

Actor Harris met fellow actor and chef Burtka in 2004. They became parents to twins Gideon and Harper in 2010 and married in 2014. They’ve been in their current home for around six years.

Burtka explains the building dates back to the late 1800s. During its time, its been a speakeasy for mill workers and music school for girls. To amuse and welcome guests, the men have a large, old apothecary cabinet with drawers. Guests can open a drawer to find a surprise gift, such as a gift card.

The house is full of contemporary art, and Burtka also reveals a passion for taxidermy, for which he’s even taking classes. One room – the parlor – has a large bar and is decorated with stuffed monkeys!

The house features two huge Christmas trees, and the men explain some of the background to the decorations and many of the family portraits around the home. Harris and Burtka clearly love the holidays.
