Sacha Baron Cohen Knows Freddie Mercury Led A Big Gay Life

This is why he just dropped out of the Freddie Mercury biopic he’s been set to star in since 2010. Deadline reports that Sacha Baron Cohen wanted to portray Mercury in all his gay majesty, but Mercury’s band Queen want a more “PG version” of the flamboyant gay singer’s life. The remaining members have director and script approval, so it’s bye, bye Borat.

This is ridiculous seeing as Cohen is not only physically perfect for the role, but he would have went there. The actor/comedian has no qualms about getting utterly naked n’ kinky with other dudes on film. The grotesque nude wrestling scene in Borat aside, have you ever seen Brüno? Mr. Cohen is not one of those namby-pamby straight actors who have to get drunk before a gay sex scene.

Freddie Mercury was one of the most talented rock singers to ever rock a catsuit, and he was one of those queer entertainers who didn’t really elaborate on his sexuality but everyone knew it. He was a performer who was so good at what he did that homophobes shut the fuck up and admired his ability and straight male teenagers thought he was the shit. The dude sucked dick and provided high school sports teams with their musical anthems for the past five decades!

He also didn’t strike me as having been a spinster, judging by what appeared to be a very active social life and his love of BDSM-looking stage costumes. What would a Freddie Mercury film be without gay sex, I ask you?

  1. a real shame his band is so phobic, Freddie would want the world to know the real him,, that said, Cohen is such a buffoonish tool,, someone with more credibility would be waaaay more appreciated and respected,,

  2. If you look beyond Borat and Bruno, Cohen is actually quite talented as an actor. He would have (likely) done a good job in this role.

  3. I agree Dewitt. It is very sad that they could not come to terms and allow Cohen to do the part. I dont see any other actor out there willing to go that far out on a ledge. Ugh! Such a waste..and now the movie wont have the proper flair!

  4. Have you seen him in Les Mis? He can act, and is very talented. Don’t let the antics fool you, that was an act as well.

  5. You do not need to look beyond Borat to see how talented an actor Baron Cohen is. You need to look AT Borat to see how talented an actor (and writer) he is. In person, he is extremely charming, sophisticated, and intelligent–a far cry from the characters he has created.

Plus he has a rather impressive cock. 🙂

  6. You also look like someone I want to have sex with.

(I really, really, really owe you an e-mail.)

  7. The Queen documentaries from Eagle Rock (Queen: Days of Our Lives and Freddie Mercury: The Great Pretender) has a lot of detail about Freddie’s life so why can’t Sacra do that. Absolute shame and for once disappointed in the other members.

  8. Yeah, the remaining band members should be grateful to still be alive and still making a buck off of Queen. Freddie M. is a rock icon. Will the band make less money in telling the full story of Freddie’s life that includes some nasty details? I think not. Sexuality was part of Freddie’s fame . . . he oozed sexiness in his performances and off stage. A hot guy that left the world too soon. Let the story be told. Sacha would be perfect. After all, look what Michael Douglass did for the Liberace role. I don’t think his story was edited . . . .
