Rapper N.O.R.E.’s Lesson On Homosexual Vernacular

N.O.R.E.

"I respect gay people, I hate faggots," rapper N.O.R.E. told Vlad TV. "This guy is a faggot. And the difference is, a faggot is a person who hates everyone else who isn't gay. A gay person is a person who is just happy to be gay." I'm not even going to tell you the context of this quote, because I've placed a self-imposed moratorium on ever mentioning anything that has to do with "this guy".

While I'm glad that Mr. Victor Santiago Jr. says he "respects" gay people, I can't quite get down with his definitions of gay and faggot. I'm also sick and tired of people coming up with these justifications to use the latter word in a negative fashion. Oh well… I suppose there's a reason no one's paid much attention to N.O.R.E. since "Oye Mi Canto"

  1. i didnt even know he was still around “Oye mi canto” was a decent song. :D. however hes very much a douchebag.

  2. I’ve heard the same thing from any number of people, concerning various epithets, and I can actually empathize. My best friend often says “[his] mama taught him to love the black man, hate the n**az.” He’s a black guy. Not that I’m approving of any slander of this sort, but it does lend a different point of view.

  3. what white person has ever said that? I guess Im just really sheltered… or dont associate with total fucking morons.

  4. stfu gay racists, he’s puertorican do your research.
let me get this straight; just b/c someone is from a minority group, they arent allowed to dislike other races, religions, ethnicities? wow that’s a new one on me, i thought we lived in a America (aka the land of the free)….
i’m sorry but we don’t all live in a bubble, so people are gonna dislike other people for no reason at all… can’t change it so just get over it…
Dewitt, u knew by posting this u wude get these white gay racists going haha!

  5. I find it very interesting that he can use the derogatory term “faggot” toward GLBT people, but if we (“the gays”, “the whites”, or anyone not “black”) even think about using the “N” word we get called out as a bigot or racist.
    I abhor double standards.
Perhaps we (“the gays”) should make the term “faggot” our own (like was done with the term “ni**er” to “ni**a”) and call out everyone who is non-gay as a bigot.

  6. I understand what he is saying, completely. I am gay. I like gay people. I hate faggots…the ones who think everyone else owes them something b/c they are gay. The petty ones who make us look bad by always having an attitude and being gossips. Those are the faggots.
It’s the same way I understand the use of the “N” word. There are bad seeds in every minority group, but I don’t think they should define those groups.
What I don’t understand is why everyone is saying that faggot is a derogatory term or an epithet…yet they are too scared to type nigger out…I guess it’s more acceptable to call someone a faggot?
    Maybe it’s just b/c I’m a white gay guy from Alabama…

  7. The term faggot came from a time when people who were gay were burned at the stake. A faggot was a collection of sticks that was used to light the flame that would burn gay men alive just for being gay. It IS derogatory, hateful and ignorant to use as a term. It IS as bad as using the word nigger. Stop letting people do so. Have some self-respect.
