Postiljonen: “How Will I Know/All That We Had Is Lost”

Postiljonen are a Swedish group who I suppose are classified as “dream-pop”. This is the sort of fake, post-blog genre that annoys me on principle, despite my appreciation for dreams, pop and coming up with obnoxious names to describe stuff.

The trio covered Whitney Houston‘s “How Will I Know”, then mashed it up with their own original tune “All That We Had Is Lost”. The results aren’t particularly mind-blowing (much as I love ’em), but it’s a nice variation of a pop favorite for the mopey fall/winter “listening to Vespertine on repeat” season.

If you’d prefer something upbeat, I’d recommend downloading their lazy electro-rock tinged track “We Raise Our Hearts”. The instrumental reminds me a bit of GorillazOn Melancholy Hill“, and it’s one step away from being in iPod commercials… But hey, I’m okay with that.

  1. I dont really like the term “dream pop” either. Sounds like shoegaze to me, though some press calls it “nu-gaze” now.

  3. It’s funny because when I read the words “dream pop” I imagined the exact sound that began filling my ears when I pushed play. LOVE IT! Perfect for unwinding after a busy fall day.

  4. This is the most derivative, slow motion crap I’ve ever heard in my life. Guys, Whitney Free Zones are not enough. Someday, we’ll have to bury the overrated Whitney Houston for good.
