Netflix Renewed Sex Education—So What Will Happen to Eric & Adam?

Class isn’t over just yet Netflix‘s beloved and LGBTQ-inclusive teen dramedy series Sex Education is coming back to our screens for a fourth season!

The announcement was made during the streaming giant’s virtual fan event TUDUM, where a bunch of Netflix news and renewals were announced, and on the slate of returning shows was none other than Sex Education, the hilariously raunchy coming-of-age series that we’ve all come to know and love over the past few years.

Considering how the end of season three played out, this is incredibly good news, especially for those Eric and Adam shippers out there who are deeply invested in these characters’ relationship and want to see what happens next.

Warning! Sex Education season three spoilers ahead!

Despite being a fan favorite, the end of season three saw the demise of one of the show’s most talked-about queer pairings: Eric (Ncuti Gatwa) and Adam (Connor Swindells).

Though the two were finally an official couple at the beginning of the season, it became evident that Adam still needed time to figure things out when it came to his identity, especially since he still hadn’t told the truth to his mother about Eric being his boyfriend. Eric also admitted to cheating on Adam while he was on a family trip to Nigeria, and during the series three finale, the two disastrously parted ways after realizing they both weren’t in the same place in their lives and their journeys.

“I just feel like I’m ready to fly, and you’re just learning to walk,” Eric tells Adam during their heart-breaking breakup scene. “And I’ve worked really hard to find myself and I’m beginning to lose who I am.”

While it was a tough watch, especially for those who just want to see happy queer couples on TV for once, it’s nice to know that a fourth season of Sex Education is coming soon and that there’s still hope out there for those who loved seeing Eric and Adam together!

The first three seasons of Sex Education are currently streaming on Netflix!
