Nelly Furtado: “Parking Lot”

Today has been a huge week for pop music. Carly Rae Jepsen‘s relentless massacre of catchiness (otherwise known as the album Kiss) has finally arrived to make up for the omnipresence of “Call Me Maybe” and prove, once and for all, that she’s not a “one-hit wonder”. Pink continues to be Pink (or, ugh, P!nk) with mixed results on her new project The Truth About Love.

Other heavily-anticipated releases include Kanye West‘s G.O.O.D. Music compilation, Grizzly Bear‘s Shields and The KillersBattle Born, as well as new singles from Missy Elliott and Christina Aguilera. We’ll be sure to talk about the latter when the obviously ridiculous music video drops in the near future…

Oh hey! And we suppose Nelly Furtado came out with an album too. The Spirit Indestructible acts as a decent combination of Furtado’s artistry and more mainstream endeavors. However, it’s also a reminder that she might not ever get past the success of Loose or the pure, unfiltered nature of her debut Whoa, Nelly!

Take a listen to her latest single “Parking Lot” and see what you think! Better yet, take a few listens. This one is annoying as hell at first, until you’re eventually up all night, silently mouthing to yourself “na-na-na-na-na, ley-ley” over and over and over and over again.

  1. Oh brother! That’s ridiculous.

Maybe this was intended as a US-only single? I really don’t know why they’d block it in Canada…

  3. Hey, Dewitt… false alarm 🙂 I couldn’t see it on my mobile, but it’s viewable on my PC… not her best, I agree, but it’s sort of fun, I guess. I fear you are right that it’s pretty catchy, though…

  4. not the worse thing I’ve heard from Nelly F., but that isn’t saying a lot. That being said, the hook is annoyingly catchy. Damn you dewitt…

  5. “Whoa, Nelly!” was definitely the best album she has ever put out, in my opinion. This makes me sad…I used to like her a lot! This is a track I would expect from a new artist not someone as seasoned as her. 🙁
