Must Watch: Rebecca Drysdale’s “It Gets Better” Video

It’s probably shitty to point this out. But lately, when you see the phrase “It Gets Better,” there’s a definite feeling of “enough, already.” Not about the issue, but because of the videos created just so certain celebrities can get some (more) attention.  Fortunately, a video like this one by The Big Gay Sketch Show comedian Rebecca Drysdale comes along. My faith in the project has been restored!  Also, she’s hot. I know our love can never be realized because I’m a homo and she’s a hot lesbian. But I can still imagine her letting me straighten her tie.

  1. Omg YES! I couldn’t have said it better myself. I was so over the “it gets better” project because I was just so sick of hearing about it and was just so overdone. But this video is amazing, true and not just words but facts and images put to those words. Oh and very catchy lol. Anyways in short, LOVES IT!!!

  3. I have watched only 3 or 4 ‘It Get Better’ clips because I weep uncontrollably every time. My compassion for my miserable teen self and for teens sucking shit right now overwhelms me. I watched this clip twice. The woman is so good and the lyrics are fantastic. Thanks for this clip. I can sob and laugh at the same time.

I’m pleased to report that homophobia is generally not cool in Australian High Schools. Bisexuality is the fashion..

    Blubbering, Australia.

  4. I’m a communication studies student who is graduating this semester. I understand why they are doing this campaign but I questioned the usefulness of a bunch of people talking into their webcams.

Rebecca’s approach was different and I think it will be better received by young kids than just ‘adults talking to them.’ I will definitely take the time to find out how to watch her show and support her future endeavors as a result of the work that she put into this.

  5. I’m not sure about how she says everyone involved with Glee is gay, but admits that only 7% of the crew for the video is gay. That’s really my only complaint. It would have been interesting to see how she did the song without using “salacious” words, too.

  6. Pretty good. =) I was hesitant to watch this since I’m sick of the entire campaign but this was extremely entertaining.

  7. i’m impressed the most by how that managed to avoid being preachy or corny. and that part at the end during the credits…it was honest, and inclusive, and i really appreciate that.

  8. Hot lesbian indeed! LOVED this video. It’s funny (“Ricky Martin- Big surprise.”), catchy and true to the point: It does suck right now, but after school, you do get to choose who you hang out with and who you are surrounded by.
