The gay mayor of San Angelo, Texas recently resigned because he felt that "love" is more important than his job. J.W. Lown called into his office Wednesday afternoon from Mexico and said that he will not be returning to his job because he started a relationship with someone who is not legal in the United States. He did not want to be sworn into office knowing he was assisting someone in getting a visa.
"I made the final decision when I knew it was the right decision to make for me and my partner and our future — and for the community,” says Lown.
Oh, in case you're wondering, the mayor of San Angelo gets paid $600 annually. Yes, you read it correctly and no, it wasn't a typo. If I was getting paid that little, I would quit my job for a trick any day.
Honestly though, he's quitting his job for someone he just met in Mexico? I think he was thinking with the wrong head… or was it the right head considering the lousy pay?
