Matt Drudge Doesn’t Love Gay Sex (He Just Kind of Likes It)

Matt Drudge
Conservative blogger Matt Drudge of the Drudge Report has responded to his inclusion on Out Magazine's "Power 50", a list of influential gay individuals. The magazine write-up included: "The archly conservative 42-year-old… also happens to love Chaka Khan, The Young and the Restless, and sex with men … Unfortunately, his agenda is often anti-gay, anti-choice, and anti-tolerance."
In response, Drudge told New York Magazine's Daily Intel, "False. False. False. I do not love sex with men. My site is not anti-gay. I present both sides of the anti-choice-life issue. I am not anti-tolerant! Except against big-government freaks. I liked Chaka in the eighties, and have not watched Young and the Restless in twenty years! But I do watch Judge Judy!"
While Drudge may not necessarily identify as "gay", he's clearly made advances on other men and presumably lucked out a few times. I don't mean to use dear ol' Judge Judy's words against Drudge, but he needs to quit peeing on our legs and telling us it's raining. We're not all into watersports, and I think even less of us are into liars…

  1. I am a bit confused… I have never seen anything on the Drudge Report that was hateful toward gay people. And in any case, his site is just a bunch of links, generally toward reputable news sites (he most often draws from the NYTimes and various sites that host AP and Reuters articles). In the rare event he writes something of his own, it is never an opinion piece. And so what if Matt Drudge is gay? Libertarianism as a political philosophy (from what he says, his philosophy) is hardly incompatible with that.

  2. Out magazine is the gay version of Details with a little National Enquirer thrown in. They should do some research before writing their crap, but evidently that would require too much work. The fact that Matt Drudge does not identify as gay – regardless of what his sexual orientation is – should have kept him off the list, especially in a magazine who’s own fucking name is Out. And just from doing a little checking, it appears that the Drudge Report doesn’t have an anti-gay agenda (although I could be wrong; I’ve never read it before and am basing this on a couple of other articles).
Out magazine loves making headlines – like outing Jodie Foster and Anderson Cooper on their magazine before either one felt comfortable coming out. I’m a proud gay man and everyone knows I’m gay – I have nothing to hide. But some people, for whatever reasons – REASONS THAT ARE THEIRS AND THEIRS ALONE – choose not to be open about that part of their lives.
If the Drudge Report truly was anti-gay (I went on the site and couldn’t find one example myself), then I could see outing the man as an example of hypocrisy. But this kind of shit – bullying a man because you want headlines and bigger sales – is repugnant.

  3. Matt Drudge’s website is a great source of news across the spectrum and is relatively well-balanced (especially considering the state of our news media). The actions of Out Magazine were way out of line. Whether the man is gay or not I could care less, its his business. Our society’s thirst for scandal is leading to a loss of real news, and also a loss of respect for a person’s privacy.

  4. I happen to abhor Drudge’s politics. But, to believe anything David Brock says is complete nonsense. He was the original Hillary Clinton basher and has admitted to making things up about her when he was a smear merchant for the RIGHT wing. Now all of the sudden, due to financial reasons Brock is a leftist. Gimme a break.
This man will do and say anything.
