Madonna Nipple/Gaga Concussion

So basically every pop queen is a complete mess. Perhaps realizing that MDNA didn’t fly off of iTunes, Madonna decided to get some free publicity by showing off her bare tit during her concert in Istanbul. *crickets* Eh. Defiantly “sexy” grandmothers make everyone uncomfortable.

Lady Gaga doesn’t need the publicity. She also didn’t need one of her back-up dancers dropping a pole on her head during a concert set change and giving her a mild concussion in New Zealand. Ow. She’s ok, though. She could probably incorporate this accident into her next red carpet outfit. You can totally see her arriving to an even with a bloody 7 ft. pole sticking out of her head.

And there’s video of both!

  1. Do we really need to see Madonna’s nipple after she showed even her own Ciccone in that Sex book 21 years ago?

  2. yawn – another Ageist comment about a body part – can we move on?
don’t like it? don’t watch it
…snarky drive by comments are so 2001

  3. J. Harvey, you state that defiantly sexy grandmothers make everyone uncomfortable, and yet listen to the roar of the crowd that lasted well over a minute. Clearly her tit didn’t make them uncomfortable… And FYI, she’s NOT a grandmother, but thanks for the sexist ageist comment. Lawd, why did the gay community turn on Madonna so much when she’s been nothing but an ally? Could it be we don’t want her to age because we are so scared of aging ourselves? Everyone calls her a kunt, and yet all these catty comments are pretty kunt-like, no? She’s a narcissist, dresses too young for her age, is talentless, is a cougar for dating younger men, starved for attention… Umm… Yah… Like gay men are NEVER like that. What a bunch of hypocrites.

  4. let alone the nipple show, what the fuck is what that enormous chain dangling on her (replaced?) hip?  —  seriously laughable outfit

  5. She should retire just because that would make you happy? If she can still sell out concerts, make music (which you don’t have to listen to it you don’t like it) then she can be 80 and still show off her tits… Why do you expend (negative) energy caring so much about whether she performs or not?

  6.  I like Madonna, but I don’t like boobs that much and I’m not big into lady nipples. It just seems a little desparate.

  7. Taken into the context of the song she’s singing (Human Nature) which is about being unapologetic for being a woman in power and comfortable with her sexuality, it’s perfectly fitting… And based on her expression, it seemed like a pretty spontaneous action. I think she was “flipping the bird” at convention, and it’s what she does best. It’s partly why we have loved her throughout her career (and she had our backs when “convention” was saying we all deserved to die from AIDS) and it’s funny that now it just seems “desperate” to others… why, because she’s not 25 any more? Seems like she’s just fighting a new convention, that women are “past it” and asexual after 40. Why have we suddenly turned from being social outlaws like her into catty, boring conventional people? Have we lost our edge (and our fun) in the quest for hetero normative relationships (not that there’s anything wrong with that.

  8. Im thinkin that when you have to roll UP the breast to expose the nipple?  MIGHT be time to stop the needy “look at me” behavior

  9. What’s your point? Are middle aged gay men not allowed to attend music concerts? Not allowed to like her music? Not allowed to have fun? I’m not understanding why that’s an issue to you, even if your assumption is true that it’s only middle-aged gay men attending her concerts. My point was that J. Harvey said people are uncomfortable by her exposing her boob, when it was clear that the concert-goers loved every second of it.

Incidentally, doesn’t MHD feature boobs on occasion in their Bi-The-Way column? It’s just a boob, ladies, calm down. What I find funny is she’s waving a gun around faux-shooting people in this concert, and no one’s raising a stink about it… so violence is fine and dandy, but nudity is shocking and taboo… still.. really? When did gay men get to be such prudes? Aren’t we all “Born This Way” (gag… I can’t believe I just wrote that)? Nudity should really be no big deal in this day and age, even if you’re not into the person getting nekid.

  10. Madonna has always been a great performer , and had gay peoples back through rought times , and now a whole segment of us is turning on her only because she is not twenty something.
Everyone here seems to forget that she has giving us so much as an artist and as an ally.
Let’s not be agist here , none of us are forever going to be 25.
Then what does that say. gay men at 53 are not allowed to be sexual either ? bunch of hypocrites

  11. kudos to you, graphicjack: you are sooooo right-on about the hypocritical, fickle and ageist comments coming from our misguided gay brothers toward ms. ciccone… madonna has be a fervent ally & social trailblazer for the visibility and acceptance of gay issues in mainstream culture, and THIS catty bitching is all we can do to repay her…i’m glad you spoke up so eloquently to all these snarky naysayers:  they lack the cultural perspective to know how much madonna has done for us…a little more bluntly: when all these little boys grow up and get their own grey hair and wrinkles, they will understand that age shouldn’t diminish their viability, relevance or desirability in this world…maybe THEN they’ll appreciate how well this great benefactor to our culture has prospered and evolved despite such needless & ungrateful sniping from her most treasured audience…

  12. i think the problem is she is too old to be acting the way she is. a woman in her 50’s should not be staging nipple slips to get attention. it’s a disgraceful move no matter how old the woman is. and i think the reason people are defending her, is because she is madonna. if this were kim kardashian or britney spears, no body would be supporting it.

i honestly think madonna either needs to retire or make music that is appropriate for her age. constantly making bad albums in order to get the young crowd is obviously not working. if the 20 sumthings and teens were buying her music, she would have a number 1, or more likely quite a few from any album. before anyone goes off with ‘she’s madonna, she makes hits’ take a look at gaga or katy perry. they are musicians that have the young crowd, and madonna hasn’t had a decent hit since the 90’s. stop trying to reinvent yourself madge and maybe be yourself. maybe then you might make decent music and top the charts.

  13. If MDNA was half as good as it was hyped up to be and her halftime show hadn’t just been a lot of hype for the new album (especially showcasing probably one of the worst songs on the album), I think a lot of people would be more positive about Madonna right now.  Well, that and the persistent bickering with Lady Gaga.  We get it, one song is pretty much exactly the same…  Should we expect Toni Basil to include Give Me All Ur Luvin in a mashup the next time she’s performing?

  14. Or, if she really wants to make new music, try to do a better vetting job.  The singles from MDNA have been lukewarm at best (Girl Gone Wild sounds like something she would have done in the 90s), tacky at worst (GMAUL, obviously), and that’s the kind of thing that should be getting people excited.  It’s not that the music itself is bad, it’s just that it’s not really worth buying the album to listen to what might have been  hits if they were in the right time and not fifteen, twenty years after the fact.

It feels like there is an age-based divide.  If you’re an older gay male, you tend to defend Madonna–“she’s Madonna, she’s the biggest crusader we have!”– while if you’re younger, you’re more likely to be turning to Lady Gaga–“She’s doing so much for us!  We love you Gaga!”–and the truth is they’re both great performers, it’s just that one has not put out an innovate album in the past few years while the other has only put her albums out in the past few years.

TL;DR: If Madonna were doing this after putting out a really good album, this would be receiving much more positive attention than it has been.

  15. you’re absolutely right about MDNA being a creative letdown: for all her achievements, Madonna DOES sound like she’s chasing the ghosts of her past while still trying to keep up with what she perceives to be the ‘cutting edge’ of today’s new performers…that said, we STILL owe her more respect for her unwavering support of our gay culture during decades when very few artists would have risked audience alienation to stand up for a demonized social group that they believed in…say what you want about Madonna, but for her heyday she was an ORIGINAL, and she has had a lasting impact on pop/social culture for decades…without a Madonna, there would be no GaGa, who (although she is a talented artist in her own right) owes more to her success for channeling aspects of Madonna, Grace Jones, Dale Bozzio and Annie Lennox than she’d care to admit.

  16. I’m a Madonna fan and I will say that Madonna is an opportunist.  She jumps on the bandwagon of whatever issue will get her the most media attention.  I’m not saying this is a bad thing.  Its a very smart marketing tool.  Gaga does the exact same thing.  Doesn’t mean i enjoy their music any less…its just the way it goes.

  17. I’m sorry but if a grown man of 53 yrs old got on stage and pulled one of his nuts out I would be disgusted by that as well,…I don’t pay attention to singers so i can see their genitals I pay attention to their music. Madonna is a GROWN WOMAN flashing her tits for attention,…it’s called class of which an ancient madonna has none of
