This Madonna Video Is Actually Quite Good.

For all intents and purposes, Madonna‘s “Girl Gone Wild” is a lackluster and completely forgettable pop song. I am not alone in saying this. While my opinion may not matter in the long run ’cause she’s a legend and she’s rich and everyone is ageist/sexist and (insert other thing hardcore stans like to say in her defense), it’s undeniable that this won’t go down in history as one of Madge’s best singles.

That said? The video is fucking great… And I’m not just saying that because it involves a bunch of half-naked dudes gyrating and eating apples like this! The choreography is spectacular, she looks utterly divine, and I could totally see myself watching this as I finger-bang some hot slut on the dance floor.

You win this time, Madonna. Well played!

  1.  Why the hell do they keep putting guys in heels?! The song and video are both hell of a lot better than her first single of the album.  Just don’t get the hells thing, Gaga did the same thing.

  2. i like how she can be in her 50’s or 30’s and still get people talking for all the right reasons – it’s a great video that gives a big wink to her gay fans as a thanks for putting up with her shit while she was married to Guy Ritchie…lol…it’s fun..that’s all that matters..anyone else that tries to analyze a pop song and video needs to change careers or get a life 🙂

  3.  It’s a good Madonna Video,
but u can sense how much effort she’s doing to win us back…when was
the last time she made a video specifically target to the gay community?
The effort should be done in getting involve in importan issues, not
gonna bring up the name of the one that does but priorities should be
    put in order.

  4. Pop stars don’t owe us activism in return for us buying their records… we need to do our own activism. That being said, Madonna was one of the only artists in the beginning of the AIDS epidemic with a real career to lose by supporting gays in the 80s during the homophobic Reagan years. That took a lot more balls than someone supporting gay marriage now when public opinion is much more favourable to “tha gayz”. If she’s more focused on raising her kids and fighting for women’s rights and starving kids in Malawi dying of AIDS, I don’t take it personally that she’s not also stamping her feet demanding gay marriage. She’s done more than enough for us and made it possible for others to carry the torch she’s passed on.

Rant over…. this song is not her finest, but it’s catchy and the video is amazing. The Queen is back, bitches.

  5.  And another thing… how many of you guys bitch about Madonna not doing enough for us now when you faithfully and blindly buy albums from Rhianna, Beyoncé, and other current gay-loved divas, who do squat all for the GLBT community? Why do we hold Madonna up to a different standard?

  6. I couldn’t agree with you more… If people will cab look back in history they will understand how much Madonna has done to support the cause.

  7.  Actually i don’t i just bought albums from lady gaga, and adele an electronic music. I used to be a great fan of madonna i literally grew with her so don’t give attitude dumb bitch. I just picturing my point of view and how she has change her relationship towards gay issues. And yes they owed to us with out us their nothing. I’m and active supported in my country, peace out…whore

  8. Not as bad as I expected, but I don’t know why they buried her vocal so deep in the mix.  Actually a catchy song/record, and I’m always amused at Madonna never failing to get the Christ/crucifixion imagery in there somehow.  Hot guys!

  9.  Suggesting Madonna ripped off Stefani Germanotta is about as logical as suggesting Star Wars ripped off Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

  10. Madonna owes us nothing… she had done more championing for the gay community in the first third of her career than any other ‘celebrity’ has ever done since.. Madonna’s voice was genuine and from the heart as she had lost most of her friends from the late 70’s and early 80’s to what was a new vicious ‘gay’ disease.. Madonna never left us yes her creative visions evolved and changed and MATURED something many within our community never do… and for that change I believe is the reason she is still entertaining us today.. yeah she has her ‘strange’ fazes such as ‘Guy Ritchie’ ‘Directing’ ‘4 Minutes’.. hey at least she has stopped acting LOL god love her.. she doesn’t sit on a benign fence ‘Kylie’ I will never understand the infatuation with that one.. JESUS and I am an Aussie..! Then theres the ‘Ga Ga’ the biggest pop fraud since ‘Milli Vanilli’ insincere and transparent and way to young to be sprouting the regurgitated drawl that has been stolen from the book of ‘Madonna’ yes she is a talented girl but I truly believe she will be background noise within five years.. Madge for all her faults at times is a ‘freak of nature’… Long Live The Queen..!

  11. Does anyone ever listen to the lyrics of Madonna’s songs? They’re so banal it’s embarrassing.

  12. Look up LOVE by KAZAKY and tell me she didn’t steal it from them.  And THEY did it far better.  That being said, everything is derivative from something else in pop to some extent.  That’s how we use synergistic  energy to create the next sensation.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7p7xWHlCs90

  13. Thanks for pointing that out!  I didn’t recognize them.  That’s pretty awesome, they should’ve been featured more.  (And honestly I wish that Gaga got to them first.)

  14. I agree completely with you, Dewitt–the song itself is bland (it reminds me of Britney Spears’s “Inside Out” because the “girls, they just wanna have some fun” line reminds me of Cindy Lauper’s Girls Just Wanna Have Fun and therefore it feels like a callback to the 80s), but the video’s fun.  Of all the songs that have been new to me the past few weeks, this is probably the one that’s stuck in my head the least.

  15. I’m not sure what everyone is raving about.  This video is as mediocre as the song.  There is nothing groundbreaking or visually stunning about it.  The choreography is lamentable and I’ll never understand the idea of having guys dance in heels.  I’m pretty certain I’ve seen someone else do this before.  Talk about redundant….
