Madea Sends Kids To Disney World

Madea-goes-to-disney

Remember how a handful of children were thrown out of a Philadelphia swim club because they'd change the "complexion and atmosphere"? Well, thanks to actor and director Tyler Perry, those kids are going to Disney World. You can say what you want about the guy (I'm looking at you Sebbybear), but his heart is definitely in the right place.

The club still insists that this "was not about race but rather a safety issue, in part because many children couldn't swim." Is anyone else not buying that excuse?

  1. I have heard that Tyler is an amazing guy!!!
I think that issues like this should make people realize that race is not an “ago” issue but one that permeates and festers still to this day. I have heard way too often that “they” should just get over it; that the past is the past. However, when history dictates brutal acts of racism that can date back to less than 50 years ago to think we are in the clear is a major major misconception.
Yeah, in some instances and in some places, it may seem implicit in nature but it’s the EXPLICIT actions of this swim club that hopefully bring to light that we are very far from the notion of “color-blindness”.

  2. i like tyler perry’s works. it’s a cultural thing really, others dont seem to get the references/jokes/etc.
some of “us” don’t get larry the cable guy or dane cook, but we don’t go around trashing them…
those kids have been through so much this summer, and it’s shameful. i’m proud/happy that tyler perry took it upon himself to see to those kids alteast having some fun this summer..
leave that man alone, and let him be great!
