I think in the american culture it’s def. NOT hot. And I am very much american, although a simple gap like his isn’t a complete turn off. If you just have a gap but otherwise healthy white teeth then I don’t see a problem. I’m much more turned off by yellow teeth and bad breath. If your teeth look like you eat rocks or wood daily, well, that is a huge turn off.
I have a gap in my upper front teeth… doesn’t bother me one bit. My teeth are all perfectly spaced otherwise (except for another small gap on the lower jaw). I’d much rather have a bit of a gap(s) than some people who have their teeth all bunched together.
Call me shallow, but one of the first thing I notice about anyone, guys or girls, is their teeth. A gap can be a bit distracting, but I wouldn’t consider it a turn off.

depends on how big the gap is, and the state of the other teeth. Personally, bad teeth are an immediate turn off gap or no gap. A gap like this guys or Madonna’s, no problem… but one like Vanessa Paradis for instance… its just too big to the point of distracting.
