“Goodbye, Goodbye” Is The Standard Regret Message of Pop Songs

First off, does anyone else remember when Manhunt used to have “Standard Regret Messages” to indicate that you weren’t interested in someone? They’ve since evolved into the more open-ended “One-Click Response”, a system that allows you to craft a stock message that isn’t necessarily driven by negativity or your odd desire to let someone know they’re not good enough for you.

Though it’s not exactly the same thing, the new Tegan And Sara video “Goodbye, Goodbye” depicts several ways to end a relationship without being completely upfront and telling the person to their face. It’s an simple yet excellent take on the track, which remains one of my favorites from their straight-up pop crossover album Heartthrob.
