Geek Out: The New Green Lantern Trailer?

The upcoming Green Lantern film won't be coming out until 2011, so I was pretty confused when I saw the trailer on porn cutie Mike Dreyden's blog. As I watched, a few questions popped up in my mind. Most of them revolved around the glaring absence of hunky actor Ryan Reynolds. Wasn't he supposed to be playing the role of Hal Jordan in this?

As a self-proclaimed geek, I'm actually kind of ashamed that I had to think twice about this being fake. The trailer's editor Jaron Pitts utilized footage of Nathan Fillion from Joss Whedon's Firefly and Serenity, along with clips from Superman Returns, Iron Man and Fantastic Four: Rise of The Silver Surfer. Hopefully, the actual trailer will be as good as this!

  1. Looks really fake at some points, but overall a really great job. Never really was a lantern fan aside from the Justice League, but maybe this movie will convert me…

  2. Wow that trailer will probably be better than the real one.
And Nathan Fillion is a MUCH better choice for Green Lantern than Ryan Reynolds. I thought Reynolds was going to be The Flash. That would make a lot more sense seeing at The Flash is kind of an obnoxious douchebag, much more fitting for Ryan.

  3. You only saw the clips from Superman, Iron Man, and Fantastic Four? How about the ones from The Matrix, Galaxy Quest, Star Trek, the ANIMATED Justice League, I’m pretty sure there were ships from Independence Day around 1:38, and a clip from the ABC series Castle?
Dewitt, I’m taking your nerd card.

  4. I think there may have been some Smallville and one of the Kamen Rider series in there, as well.
I had actually seen this trailer a couple times before, and it still threw me at first.
I agree Nathan would have made a good GL, but I remain hopeful Ryan will fill the role nicely. And we can only hope the actual movie will show some Ch’p love. 😛
(Wait, was that the chipmunk from Enchanted?)

  5. Yeah, there was a scene from Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight in there, I’m shocked no one mentioned the Dragonball: Evolution scenes. . .every shot of “Sinestro” was really Piccolo. Some of it was amazing, and some of it was really fake. And Ryan should make a great Hal Jordan. . .he was a hot shot with no respect for authority when he first got his ring.
