Florence + The Machine: “Never Let Me Go”

Florence + The Machine just released the video for “Never Let Me Go”, the third official single from their sophomore album Ceremonials. I haven’t even had a chance to watch it, since I’ve been helping J. Harvey pick winners for our latest comment contest… But, uh, it’s fucking Florence Welch! She can do no wrong in my book (except for maybe choosing the wrong single two times in a row).

  1. I’ve always been a big fan of hers.  She has a Kate Bush quality to her singing I really love.  (Switcheroo).

  2. absolutely great video for the song — the scene captures the echoing quality of the song and her voice perfectly —– smiling on the ice with tight close ups fits the upbeat parts of the song, while the lonely janitor and the long hallways reflect the sadder bits —– solid song, and absolutely perfect video for it

  3. She has the most amazingly powerful voice – really agree with caleb about the Kate Bush quality. Now with Florence and Adele, the UK has music to be proud of …….. I can’t apologise to you guys enough about setting Coldplay on the world ……….(cardio_uk)

  4. I think this video & of course Florence is fabulous. I’m really enjoying the music coverage you guys are doing on here. I realize why we are all here, hehe, but appreciate the fine taste shown in music, fashion, etc etc us gay men are known for!
    Keep It Up!

  5. My favorite song on the album just got ruined by the video… I’m sorry I ever watched it!

  6. i love this song. if you really listen to the lyrics you can hear that it’s about surrending your life to the ocean. really powerful stuff. that said I think they could’ve done a lot more with the video given their bottomless budget.

  7. while there is nothing bad about this song, its really just an aural rehash of their big hit.     So while I was blown away by “Dog Days Are Over”, this song leaves me asking “so what else is new?”
