Drawn To You: The Erotic Art of David W. Haskins

David W. Haskins Erotic Art

There's a calmness to the erotic art of David W. Haskins that you won't find in fellow artists like Ismael Alvarez's work. Instead of rock hard cocks and explicit action, you get men napping, lying on their stomach or cuddling with their partner.

When a hard cock does appear, it's never in action–as if a man had fallen into a deep slumber of naughty dreams and became aroused as a result. The tones of his images are subdued, oftentimes fading into the background and allowing the viewer to focus on the true male beauty that lies before their eyes.

In other words… these may be drawings, but I'd totally jerk off to them seven or eight times in a row.

  1. David is quite talented. i like the fact that the scenes are natural and not always about sex.
some artists really rely on the sexual stuff, but just seeing a guy laying there is hot as well.

  2. Hot yes, but the artist would rise to the next level if he studied human anatomy a bit more to get the underlying musculature more exact. Proportion of head to body is a bit off in several of the pieces I[‘ve seen as well – but a refreshing approach to what more often than not turns into soft-core porn

  3. i am not impressed.
random artists off the street have better drawings of faces than this >.>

  4. I hate to criticize since I have very little artistic talent, but the only picture I liked was the one near the top with the two guys snuggling, and even that one isn’t a great picture. The guy on the left looks weird. One ass cheek is round while the other one is pointy (?), he’s got a serious case of chicken legs (his lower legs are completely out of proportion to his upper legs), and it looks more like an art class assignment than a professional artist.

  5. classic example of appalling amateurism that gets exposure just for its supposedly gay-friendly content.

  6. Damn, You guys never cease to amaze me. Is there anything you aren’t critical of? So everyone/thing doesn’t look perfect? I think it’s neat and I’d display some of it Proudly.

  7. I’m guessing the artist is a friend of the blogger?
I have to agree with some of the posters already — somewhat amateur. I’ve seen better erotic male nude artwork locally . . .

  8. . . . and btw, from what I’ve seen of Ismael’s work, it’s much better than this guy’s . . .

  9. I teach art for a university and I agree about the problem with proportions. But I think he has talent and with maturity he can develop into a great artist.

  10. Sometimes constructive criticism is a good thing. Agreed on the benefit of studying anatomy, unless his models really are that out of proportion. I would liken this to wrting an article about something without doing adequate research. The product would be incomplete and inaccurate. Even just studying the face in order to convey some emotion as the facial expressions seem flat in some of the pics. I would not guess these pics were by the same artist were it not so blatantly posted on each slide. Although, I would not mind meeting the model for the last pic…..if the representation is close.

  11. I really like it. It is erotic without being hardcore. It has a definite expressionistic feel to it, with a small abstraction thrown in there as well. This is definitly some of the best ero-artwork i have seen in a long time.

  12. I am the artist. I do not know this blogger. I stumbled across this blog searching for my art on Google. Thanks for the criticism.
All drawings are done live. I do my best to draw what I see accurately. Sometimes I do not do so well, but mostly, I think I’ve done a very good job. Few of my models are perfectly proportioned and many times I set my easel close to the subject which tends to distort the resulting image somewhat, but I like that intensity of those views.
I am pleased that some wrote how I have achieved eroticism without being porn… acknowledging that each has their own perception of what porn is.
As of today (7-9-2009) my site is down due to server problems. Hopefully that will be rectified soon. Thanks again for your comments.
