Did Lady Gaga Steal Her Style From Roisin Murphy?

Those of you who were put off by my Lady Gaga hateration in this past weekend's Song of Summer charts have gotten the last laugh. The pop star's hits "LoveGame" and "Paparazzi" are currently ranked in second and third place behind Shakira's "She Wolf". But it isn't all sun showers and rainbows for this glammed-out gal. Irish electronic artist Róisín Murphy has allegedly accused Gaga of stealing her style.

Though this wouldn't be the first time that such accusations were made, it's probably the most valid. Check out a side-by-side comparison of the two singer's outfits after the JUMP. I'm going to let you guys be the judge on this, because you already know how I feel…

UPDATE: Murphy has issued a statement denying such accusations. It reads, “I respect Lady Gaga’s work as an artist and as a fellow fashion icon. She is a very talented performer, playing the piano, singing live and dancing too. I Don’t Care about Shoulder pads!”

  1. Wow… Definitely way too many similarities to be purely coincidental.
It’s like she took every pic of Róisín Murphy she could find and copied it…
    BTW? Who is Róisín Murphy?

  2. You know, I love me some Lady Gaga, and will defend her performing talent to the end. I also am not a fan of fashion in any form, and while I have been amused by some of Lady Gaga’s outfits, I think her style is mostly hideous.
But that was an eye-opener. She has definately copied someone else in style. I don’t see much wrong with it, as there are small unique spins in each imitation. I would be flattered if I were the other woman.

  3. It does look as if GaGa took a lot from Róisín’s style. Although GaGa is a talented performer, Róisín’s voice is stronger and more pleasing to my ears…less electronically enhanced. I’ve heard GaGa sing live a few times and thought it was’t terrible, but certainly wasn’t anything special.

  4. As much as I love me some Gaga, Róisín will always be my go to girl when I’m looking for something pleasing to listen to.
