Daniel Radcliffe Donates To The Trevor Project

Daniel Radcliffe

While his Harry Potter co-star Matthew Lewis was busy (not) polishing his wand, actor Daniel Radcliffe made a substantial donation to organization The Trevor Project. Now would be a good moment to raise your glasses of butterbeer for a toast to his awesomeness (and extreme sexiness).

The non-profit organization operates the only nation-wide, around-the-clock crisis and suicide-prevention helpline for LGBTQ youth, as well as several other outreach programs for the younger folks of our community.

"It's extremely distressing to consider that in 2009 suicide is a top three killer of young people," said Radcliffe. "And it's truly devastating to learn that LGBTQ youth are up to four times more likely to attempt suicide than their heterosexual peers… It's vitally important that young people understand they are not alone and, perhaps even more important, that their young lives have real value."

Previously, actress Anne Hathaway auctioned herself off for the organization, offering to get the highest bidder "totally shitfaced" at "somewhere fabulous" and raising $12,000 in the process. Also, Marc Wynters of the Chronicles of Pornia blog made donations in the names of each winner for his first annual awards. If you'd like to make a donation or find out how you can help, head over here to the organization's website.
