Aural Only: Pink

Have you heard Pink‘s latest single yet? The pop underdog has stormed back onto the scene with “Raise Your Glass”, a raucous anthem about being “wrong in all the right ways”. Oddly enough, that lyric serves as an accurate description of the song itself…

Time and time again, we’ve seen this shtick from Ms. Alecia Moore. Despite the fact that she’s a worldwide superstar, she blurts out lines about how she’s an outcast like the rest of us. It was cute back in 2002–when she was legitimately living in the shadow of Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera–but c’mon, girl! You’ve got to move on from there.

With that said, the song is slated to appear on Pink’s upcoming greatest hits album, and it’s exactly what should appear in such a collection. “Raise Your Glass” is an excellent summation of her career and established persona, crafted by Swedish hit-maker Max Martin. The two previously worked together on her top ten singles “U + Ur Hand”, “Who Knew” and “So What”, so it’s only natural that this one will follow in their success.

Moreover, you can’t deny the charm of this. Between the stomping dance beat and Pink’s “don’t give a fuck” attitude, there’s no choice but to throw your hands in air and sing along to the chorus. This will definitely bring some life and energy to our Weekly Top Ten!

  1. I miss the old P!nk. The P!nk who sang “There You Go” & “Most Girls”, but she said that wasn’t really her style, and I greatly respect her for standing up to her label and making the type of music she wants! I don’t think P!nk has ever released a single that I haven’t liked and this in no exception! This song is fun, but I’m just wondering why she’s doing a greatest hit’s album. That’s usually an “end of career” move, but she’s is still smokin’ hot! Go P!nk!

  2. The álbum is actually called Greatest Hits….So Far. I guess is the end of a chapter in her career. This new single is great.

  3. All of the stuff about being an underdog isn’t just about her – it’s actually about the gay community. She’s going to try to marry a gay couple in the music video. The song is very much an anthem for anyone who feels that they aren’t completely accepted as normal – and that definitely includes P!nk.

LOVE the song, by the way.

  4. hey Tracy Turnblad, suck my dick. I love P!nk by the way, she’s incredibly talented, still creates legit music, and is herself. Love and Respect this woman and so glad she keeps coming back.

  5. This song is fucking fabulous. I’ve been listening to it non-stop for the past half hour.

I love Pink, she’s such a fierce bitch!
