Aural Only: Mumford & Sons

Over the weekend, I received the following tweet on my Twitter page: “If that gorgeous cubby lead singer from Mumford & Sons isn’t featured on Manhunt Daily this week, I will be disappointed. Swoon.” Funny enough, I never realized Marcus Mumford was so damn adorable. Though I wouldn’t necessarily categorize him as “cubby”, he’s still quite the looker. And in case you haven’t noticed, he’s in a really good band.

Amidst the Grammy nods and big win at the Brit Awards, we figured now would be a perfect time for the group’s “The Cave” to make a much-overdue debut on our Weekly Top Ten. Will you consider voting for them? Their sound isn’t the typical, estrogen-pumped pop music that flourishes on our charts, but it’s important to recognize fantastic music when we hear it.

Interestingly enough, Mumford & Sons previously competed in our Wild Card round with “Little Lion Man”, but they were ultimately defeated by Maroon 5‘s weak-ass single “Give A Little More”. Let’s hope you make a better decision on this week‘s edition of the Wild Card!

  1. Great song. Bit of trivia. He’s dating Laura Marling, the girl who won Best Female at the Brits last night. She’s a good singer and also in the same folkie vibe of Mumford & Sons.

  2. Holy crap, yes! The last time I swooned over Marcus Mumford I was told I had bad taste. It is so nice to be validated. Oh, and they have good music, bladi-bla. 😛 Love ’em.

  3. Apologies from the UK that the Brits which use to be cutting edge choose this dull dull dull band as best album – music to sleep by. The candles on their stage set showed more movement and style – despair for music of today if this mundane tripe can exist –
the age of the internet and the best we can discover is this?

  4. I can’t believe that “Little Lion Man” was beat out by Maroon 5. Good God, what is the world coming to?

  5. It’s good to have some diversity and bring some different to the party. This is one of the good bands to come out of the UK in the last couple of years and now they are becoming more popular in the US. Their album is this week’s #2 on the Billboard 200.

  6. I love these guys! It is about time that are being featured on the countdown. Deff one of my new fav bands!!
