Aural Only: Kylie Minogue

I’ll be the first to admit that the new offerings on this Saturday’s Weekly Top Ten were pretty damn weak. In order for this competition to remain interesting, we need some true power players to enter into the mix–known names with a decent gay following. In other words? People like motherfuckin’ Kylie Minogue.

Although it’s allegedly been reported that no further singles will be released from her latest project Aphrodite, a remix of her album cut “Put Your Hands Up (If You Feel Love)” surfaced last week on her official YouTube page. The track has been a fan favorite on her ‘Aphrodite Les Folies’ tour, and it’ll surely get some major club play for the next couple of weeks. So what’s your verdict–hate it or love it?

  1. I rather like the remix. The original isn’t the best choice for a single from ‘Aphrodite’ though. ‘Closer’, ‘Everything Is Beautiful’, the title track ‘Aphrodite’ or even the album closer ”Can’t Beat The Feeling’ would have been better choices. That said….I loves me some Kylie and will totally vote for her if she’s on the countdown. 🙂

  2. I agree with Javier regarding the remix version. The original did nothing for me, especially when she pronounces “faces” and “places” like Fay-SEZZZH and Play-SEZZZH. (the annoying pronunciation is much less noticable on the remix)

  3. Great original track and the remix isn’t bad either. I think the tracks on this album really don’t need mixing – they’ve been so well crafted to start. Still not bad, though, and I fully support it’s addition to the crop this week.

  4. WHY ISNT THIS A SINGLE??? Original was the best track on Aphrodite (along with Cupid Boy) and this remix lifts it up to her best period level – Rhythm of Love!! The remix makes the track of the calibre of Better the Devil, What do I have to do, Shocked and Step Back in Time!!!

    Fucking release it Parlophone!!

  5. The best song from Aphrodite. I hope her label makes it up for the mess of Better than today and release it. It comes handy now that Kylie is about to tour the US.

  6. Not bad. Not the best from Aphrodite. The title track is much better. Of course this is way better than Better Than Today.

I think she needs to come out with a new album quickly, one that she makes more of the “singles” decisions on. I know she lost alot of fans with this album and only 3 singles (2 of em great, 1 of em horrible).

  7. If we are gonna include songs that are not official singles in order to shake things up on the countdown, I would recommend the following songs:

    1. Nelly Furtado – Girlfriend in The City (her next single from her Greatest Hits).

    2. Kesha – Crazy Beautiful Life

    3. Kesha – The Harold Song

    4. Katy Perry – Last Friday Night

    5. Christina Aguilera ft. Peaches – My Girls

    6. Kesha – Grow a Pear

    7. Kylie Minogue – Aphrodite

All of these are worthy singles and may stir things up a bit.

  8. I will vote for Kylie definitely if she’s in this weekend. We need some real dance music with a touch of retro. And she could be some real competition for the Holy Trinity of Adele/Gaga/Britney that are locking the top 3. This song is the best track in Kylie’s album.

  9. It was about fucking time. Aphrodite has so many potential singles. Hopefully her label will listen and they’ll release it. I can see another #1 for her on the dance charts in the US.

  10. Not bad…

I just realized, Lykke Li’s new CD came out but you’ve yet to do an “album review” about it…
