Now I wasn't going to address the premiere of Chris Brown's new single "Transform Ya", but then I saw the overwhelmingly positive feedback it's been receiving on other blogs. Have we seriously forgotten what this man has done? Am I the only one who thinks he shouldn't be releasing a song so soon after the incident? A half-ass apology does not make things better.
This reminds me of how I felt when that "Jill and Kevin" viral video blew up a while ago. Brown's song "Forever" started selling like hot-cakes on iTunes, and I was pissed until I saw that the couple was using the video's popularity to raise money for an organization that fights domestic violence. In fact, I'm still a little pissed about the video giving Brown a brief moment of public redemption.
If I remove myself from the situation (which is quite difficult to do for me), I can acknowledge that "Transform Ya" is decent as far as pop songs go. Lil Wayne turns in two solid verses, Swizz Beatz provides a slick robotic groove and I might have liked this if it were given to another vocalist. With that said, I can agree with others that it's rather creepy for someone who violently beat his girlfriend to sing about "transforming" someone. Especially when that someone should be taking a break from singing altogether.

I don’t like the song nor the person who sings it.
Yeah, I bet he could transform ya.. by rearranging your face – especially if you’re a defenseless woman.
Chris Brown is a pussy who bests up girls. I wouldn’t listen to or buy his music if you paid me.
Rihanna was asking for it.
No one really knows what actually happened and its none of our business. I don’t like the song just cause its not very good but everyone deserves a second chance and the guy is trying. He doesn’t owe any of us an apology. He didn’t touch us. The only person affected by his actions was Rhianna.
