Aural Only: Chris Brown

Chris Brown

Chris Brown is back with a new song and I’m ashamed to say that it’s actually pretty good. If you’re a fan of Usher‘s “DJ’s Got Us Fallin’ In Love” or Taio Cruz‘s “Dynamite”, then “Yeah 3x” is right up your alley. It’s definitely a club banger. Despite me liking the song, I still think Chris is a douchebag. What do you guys think?

  1. When I saw Chris Brown on the page, I let out an audible “ugh,” lol! I guess a part of me will just never like him like I did before…”the incident.” I have given him chances, and the only song I’ve liked of his since is “Deuces”, and that song is marginal at best. I can definitely imagine myself hearing this song in the club though, so best of luck to ya Chris!

  2. I’ve tried to like Chris Brown and this song…but sadly I don’t think I will ever be able to ride myself of the memory of him hitting Rihanna…actions DO speak louder than words, even if those words are set to a four on the floor beat.

  3. What an arrogant ass you are, JC! NO ONE ever “deserves” to be hit by their partner and if you truly believe that you need professional help.

  4. The fact that it’s him is rather irrelevant as it’s obviously more about the producer. His voice is so auto-tuned that you’d never know it was him. The track is a little cheap sounding, too, so quite easy to call it a throw away. His best so far was “Transform You” and, like this, was also about the production and not the artist. If he can even be called that.

  5. Don’t besmirch the awesomeness that is “DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love Again” by associating it with this crap.

Also fuck Chris Brown, that unrepentant twerp. He wouldn’t be anywhere if it wasn’t for his producers.

  6. Get over it. Did MH post this because they liked it or to start a dialogue about how much everyone hates this kid? Why even fucking bother?

  7. @LEO – I agree. Chris Brown has quite a good voice, like it or not. And quite good looking to boot. And no one ever mentions Rihanna’s prior rep. She was noted as a miserable b**ch to get along with. While I don’t condone what Chris Brown did, even if he was in the bag, I have to think that at least some of the blow-up may have been caused by the victim. Yeah, I already know, forget about hitting me with your “poor, poor, girl” remarks, I’m just saying!

  8. You’re right. The beginning sounds like he’s sampling Calvin’s song. I listened to it twice to find it similar.

  9. When does the guy get a second chance? Are we all so bitter that we have to hold it against him for the rest of his life? None of us are perfect. “Het he who is without sin cast the first sone…”

  10. As much as I might abhor what Chris did (and I don’t think Rhianna was completely innocent), his latest album, Graffiti, is amazing. He may not write the songs, but his talent is amazing! Hopefully, he learned a lesson, is able to control his anger in the future, and will be able to have a career after some time and forgiveness.

  11. I agree completely with what Alan said. I also believe it’s time for all of us to move on. It’s been nearly 2 years and it appears as if both Chris & Rihanna have moved on. We all make mistakes or do things we’re not proud of. Hopefully he’s learned from what happened…and done his best to move in a positive direction. I’m all about stories of redemption…and I don’t think Chris has done something for which he can’t eventually find redemption.

As for the song, I like it but I’m not crazy about it. I like his other song, Deuces, more. I don’t think every R&B singer needs to do a dance-flavored song just to have a hit. He needs to realize that his Pop career is probably over and needs to stick with music that’s going to appeal to his R&B fan base.
