Aural Only: Alexandra Burke

Are you ready for the most homosexual music video that you’ll ever see? Okay, so maybe that’s a bit of a stretch. But whether you choose to accept it or not, Alexandra Burke‘s “Start Without You” will be projected onto the walls of every damn gay bar in existence.

The song doesn’t scream “smooth, muscular men working out in black boxer briefs”, but I can’t exactly blame the director for heading in that direction. Hopefully, this visual element will be enough to get the former X-Factor winner some attention on this side of the pond. No matter what happens, we hope she continues to make more music videos like this!

  1. She doesn’t have the sex appeal to carry this. This is not the first time we have seen guys in shorts either.

  2. It’s drivin’ me crazy trying to figure out what very old “calypso” song, maybe from the 50’s or 60’s the chorus of this song is stolen from. Anyone have a clue?

  3. Crap-Tastic!!!!!!
just what the world needs ,another vapid girl singer barely dressed surrounded by waxed men.
Natalie Merchant could take down 20 of these gals with one 3 minute song

    Kill Simon Cowell!!!!!!!

  4. See, this just exemplifies why I don’t listen to the crap out today. The original is always better, and artists these days seem to have nothing better to do than to sample sample sample instead of coming up with something unique. And those that do…usually have to autotune it or whatnot.

  5. Thank you Leo! “Iko Iko” is definitely what it’s stolen from. Maybe it’s a public domain melody, and they won’t get sued.

  6. The guys are plenty hot. She is also very attractive.

What this lacks is a song with verve and energy, and good production. In fact, this may be the worst produced video I’ve ever seen. What impact it could have made with the materials at hand is utterly squandered by lackluster, unimaginative production.

  7. Not her best song. What a shame. More proof that Simon Cowell doesn’t care about the fans or the music industry, just to pocket more money and it’s shame because Alexandra is very talented.

  8. WOW!What a powerful bunch of sarcastic bitches here! The song is light and airy. Not at all deep.At least I can understand her, she’s not walking around looking like Ke$ha the Cum Rag,and she’s pretty. The guys are OK.Not super built. No Colton Fords, but decent.Bet most guys could find something they like in the group.Iko Iko,bitches!
The song needs a remix, but it beats a lotta what is on the radio.

  9. joe4ever: Show us your pic! Come on! Don’t be scared!
These guys better be considered hot or I’m screwed! And SO not in the good way!

  10. Sorrryyyyy…It may be remake song but, whats wrong with cute guys jumping around nearly naked!!! They may not be the HOTTEST guys but, still VERY CUTE!

  11. Looks like she is begging for a gay audience.
@ KinkyWisconsin – even with the sound turned off it’s terrible.

  12. I think the song is ok, but what brings it down a lil is the video. Though the guys are cute and all, it just doesn’t seem to be the right video for the song…

This video really reminds me of Olivia Newton-John’s “Physical” video that came out on Glee.

  13. Hmmm, this cost about 3 bucks to make, and half of that was spent on hot wax.

Who’s betting she has a nose job before releasing her next album?
