Amazon Calls LGBT Censorship a ‘Glitch’

Dan Savage Cover
What do a biography of Harvey Milk, a LGBT guide for college students and a book entitled Heather Has Two Mommies have in common? All three lost their sales rankings on Amazon.com because they were deemed to be "erotic".
Amazon responded to the issue with the following statement: "We recently discovered a glitch to our Amazon sales rank feature that is in the process of being fixed. We’re working to correct the problem as quickly as possible.”
While this would seem like a logical excuse, the blogs are calling "bullshit" over this glitch excuse. Books such as porn star Ron Jeremy's biography maintained their rankings, while those with absolutely no erotic content were de-ranked. Almost all of the books that were effected were LGBT-oriented. Seems a little fishy, eh?

  1. yeah right…the truth is that they are homophobic and are blaming a “glitch” for their own bigotry….wake up and smell the coffee amazon.com….we’re here, we’re queer, and we’re not going anywhere.

  2. I agree, I call bullshit on this one. They want our money, but down deep they’re homophobic shits.

  3. in the most recent issue of OUT there was a figure talking about how a after Milk was nominated a for a Golden Globe it’s ranking dropped many spots on the IMDB charts. the same thing happened with Brokeback Mountain. smear campaign much?
