Have you been waiting for Carly Rae Jepsen‘s “Call Me Maybe” to step aside so another jam can claim the ultimate title of “Song of Summer”? Tough luck, sweet cheeks! Carly’s continuing her climb to the number one spot on the US Billboard charts, and we’re stuck with her as long as the sexy lip sync videos keep rolling in (as seen here, here or here).
Even so, that’s not stopping Romanian pop queen Alexandra Stan and her production team MAAN Studio from trying to snatch Jepsen’s (tentatively placed) crown. The team responsible for the irresistibly catchy “Mr. Saxobeat” unveiled their new collaboration “Lemonade” earlier this week, and they’re calling it “the summer hit single you’ve been waiting for”.
While I was initially skeptical of this claim, I’m becoming more and more hooked with each subsequent listen. There’s something charming about the clumsy lyrics, shameless pop production and faux-reggae-meets-Ace-of-Base bounce! One can only hope this catches on with radio, so they’ll stop playing that fucking Gotye song 24/7. Seriously.

To each his own. That’s more “meh” to me than this (but I’ll admit it’s a whole lot of fun).
I really miss the weekly top ten!!! I always looked forward to it to find tracks that I hadn’t heard yet.
