Album Review: Nick Jonas & The Administration

If you're thinking about picking up a copy of Nick Jonas & The Administration's new album as a gift for your niece, you might want to think twice about it. Who I Am isn't the typical tween pop you'd expect from a member of the Jonas Brothers. It's actually a remarkably mature project, packed with classic rock and jazz influences.

Notes of John Mayer can be heard in the album's opening track "Rose Garden", and a majority of the songs seem to have been inspired by English rocker Elvis Costello. But it doesn't stop there. "State of Emergency" comes off as an homage to Stevie Wonder's "Superstition", without sounding like a total rip-off. Jonas has clearly done his homework. And unlike contemporaries like Justin Bieber, it's clear that he knows the difference between Beyonce and Bon Jovi.

Don't be ashamed to check this one out! This kid may be half your age, but he knows how to turn out a decent song. Who I Am may not be as good as the possibility of his brothers Joe and Kevin quitting music altogether to pursue careers in porn, but it comes pretty close. Too bad the targeted demographic will have no appreciation for it…

  1. I would love it if Nick Jonas were gay. I would be his Daddy & give him all the attention he needs. He’s so cute!
