Alabama Shakes: “Hold On”

Alabama Shakes‘ “Hold On” is the type of song that’s packed with so much heart and soul, you have no choice but to throw your hands up and “testify” when you hear it. Lead vocalist Brittany Howard knocks this bluesy track out of the park! Frankly, it’s almost hard to believe that this isn’t already a standard on classic rock radio stations.

You can stream the group’s full-length debut Boys & Girls over here. If you like what you hear, the album’s currently available on iTunes for $7.99 (which might actually be worth paying)… Or you can wait until the official release date on next Tuesday, April 10.

  1. Personally, I think this is a MUCH more powerful anthem than that new Kris Allen song from yesterday.  Even though this video has nothing to do with bullying like Kris’, the message of “you got to hold on” is powerful and along with the bluesy riff stays with me.  All that’s memorable to me from Kris’ song is the imagery of the video.
