This is some offbeat news, but the Gordian Worm is a freaky parasite. It is known to live inside a cricket for a long time feeding on its diet. Once it is fully grown, the worm injects chemicals into the cricket’s brain, forcing it to jump into water and essentially commit suicide. Once in the water the worm wriggles its way out of the cricket's body.
