The lyrics to 98 Degrees‘ comeback single “Microphone” sound like a joke. It’s almost as if they were written for MTV’s short-lived parody boy band 2ge+her, then scrapped at the last minute for lacking any subtlety whatsoever. This song is about penises! This song is about women performing oral sex on penises! There’s no question about it.
Should we be particularly shocked by this development? Not at all. Remember, this is coming from a group who agreed to go on a joint tour with Boys II Men and New Kids On The Block called… The Package. If they’re gonna make blatant references to their dicks, they might as well go all the way (pun definitely not intended).
