Weekly Top Ten Wild Card: Hip-Hop Battle

In the past couple of months, I’ve been cumming all over myself for a few recent hip-hop releases. I’m not sure when rappers got the memo to start being awesome again, but it’s nice to see that they’re giving it a try! Let’s just hope that Flo Rida and Nelly receive their copies of the memo before it’s too late…

Instead of bombarding you with a ton of “OMG, hip-hop” posts that most of you would dismiss as “fake music”, I thought I’d throw a few of my faves into a singular Wild Card round. The competitors include Big Boi of Outkast, Kanye West, B.o.B. and Rah Digga. Only one of them can become the champion, so get your votes in before it’s too late!

To listen and cast your vote, follow the JUMP:

Big Boi f/ Yelawolf – You Ain’t No DJ: Due to label restrictions, Big Boi wasn’t allowed to include the other half of Outkast on his latest project Sir Lucious Left Foot. Thankfully, there was a loophole to this rule, and Andre 3000 took production credits for the new single “You Ain’t No DJ”. This one’s kind of frantic, but in a good way.

Kanye West f/ Rick Ross, Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj & Bon Iver – Monster: Yes, I’m fully aware that “Power” is the official single, and this won’t even be appearing on Kanye’s upcoming album. But seriously? This is the best rap collaboration I’ve heard in ages. If you aren’t currently a fan of Nicki Minaj, you might be converted after this verse. She eats the other boys alive! ‘Cause that’s what a motherfuckin’ monster do.

B.o.B. f/ Rivers Cuomo – Magic: Okay, so I’m not really excited about this one at all. No disrespect to B.o.B. or Weezer’s frontman, but this isn’t exactly a shining example of their talents. With that said, it’s currently rocking the pop charts, so we thought we’d throw it in the mix. Expect me to bang my head against the wall when this wins the competition…

Rah Digga – This Ain’t No Little Kid Rap: Believe it or not, Nicki Minaj isn’t the only female emcee in the game right now. Former Flipmode Squad member Rah Digga is doing the independant thing, and she’s doing it well! Watch her represent for the grown folk on this jam.

  1. On a track that sick with heavy hitters like that I still can’t fathom how Nicki was able to top them all. That verse has been stuck in my head for days. FYI even though its not on Kanye’s album its supposed to appear on a bonus EP called Watch The Thrown with him and Jay-Z. It also contains the Power remix if you’re interested

  2. I guess Kanye, Nicki’s verse was great, her rhymes are so animated! Rah Digga has been around forever waaaaaay before Ms. Minaj. I’m glad to see her back.

  3. Y’all are late, haha! I’ve been bumpin’ that Kanye track for about a month now, and yes, Nicki’s verse was killer! If you really want to hear something though, check out Kanye’s “See Me Now” ft. Beyonce & Charlie Wilson. I listen to it everyday! That song just blows my mind! Can’t wait for Ye’s album to drop!

  4. Question, are you gonna put KT Tunstall’s new songs on here? She’s got 3 videos out; “(Still A) Weirdo”, “Push that knot away”, and “Fade Like a Shadow”.
