Weekly Top Ten: A Double Dose of Adele

Britney Spears fans won’t be too happy about today’s Weekly Top Ten charts. While the pop princess is comfortably resting in fourth place with her new track “Till The World Ends”, her previous single “Hold It Against Me” has been knocked off the countdown. Meanwhile, the ever-so-talented Adele continues to hold two positions on our rankings (including the top spot), and imaginary rival Lady Gaga keeps a steady pace with “Born This Way”.

Are the tables turning? Have the gays abandoned Brit? Are these questions melodramatic enough to make you care about something other than naked men? It’s yet to be determined. Beyond “HIAM”, we’re also forced to wave goodbye to tunes by Ke$ha, Kanye West and Kazaky. We’re sad to see them go. And we’re even more sad about the awkward, triple dose of the letter “K”.

So how does this all work? If you’re a Weekly Top Ten virgin, stroke Craig Burden‘s furry pecs while I explain the rules to you. Each week you’ll be presented with ten songs. You get to vote for any and all that you’d like to see move on to the next week. From those results, we’ll take the five tunes with the highest percentages, a song we save and four other contributions. These selections will make up the following week’s charts.

Wishing there was a “none of the above” option? Well, quit your bitching and tell us what you want to see on the charts by leaving a suggestion in the comments. We listen to nearly every song you recommend, and if we think it’ll have a chance… you might see it here next time around!

– Dewitt

To check out the charts and cast your vote, follow the JUMP:

  1. Adele – Rolling In The Deep (LW – 1, W14): We’re still pleasantly surprised that this song lasted so long on the charts. After today’s round, “Rolling In The Deep” will have completed its fifteen-week run and be retired into our Weekly Top Ten Hall of Fame. Will you help Adele go out with a bang?
  2. Lady Gaga – Born This Way (LW – 2, W5): It’s crazy that people are still hung up on this being an “Express Yourself” rip-off. The comparison is acknowledged in the video! Madonna gave her blessing to the track! And most importantly, no blatant similarities will stop us from fagging out and singing this in the shower. Ugh, we’re so stereotypical.
  3. Adele – Someone Like You (LW -8, W2): With Adele’s first single’s journey coming toward its end, this race will likely come down to this heartfelt ballad and the Manifesto of Mother Monster. The suspense is killing us! Who will be the new number one competitor? Can this slow jam put an end to the Gagapocalypse?
  4. Britney Spears – Till The World Ends (LW – 7, W2): We’re not sure how we feel about this. For the first time in ages, we’re legitimately excited about a new Britney Spears song. And yet the rest of the world doesn’t seem to be embracing it. ::sigh:: We’re keeping our fingers crossed that this one catches on in the next couple of weeks…
  5. Pink – Fuckin’ Perfect (LW – 4, W8): The initial excitement over Pink’s so-called “It Gets Better” anthem has died down, as she continues to slip down in our rankings. Eight weeks isn’t a bad run, and we have faith that she may be able to stick around for a few more. What are you waiting for? Get your votes in and keep this “nitty-gritty dirty little freak” on the countdown.
  6. Rihanna – S&M (LW – 5, W6): And then there’s Rihanna. She sprung into second place as soon as the “S&M” music video made its premiere. After that, little by little, she moved forward with a steady decline down the charts. Can she make a comeback that’ll justify our decision to save her? Let’s hope so.
  7. Usher – More (DEBUT): Okay, okay! So we actually don’t mind the original version of this song. You were right, and we were wrong. Even so, we don’t understand why they’re pushing this RedOne remix so hard. It’s really such a downgrade from the first take. Ugh, but what do we know? Your votes are all that counts.
  8. Jennifer Lopez f/ Pitbull – On The Floor (WILD CARD): You can’t get rid of her that easily! J. Lo trampled the competition in this week’s Wild Card round, thanks to her sparkly new music video. With nearly double the votes as runner-up Jennifer Hudson, she clearly deserved this second chance.
  9. Katy Perry f/ Kanye West – E.T. (DEBUT): The more we listen to the lyrics of this song, the more we suspect it’s some kind of weird bug-chaser anthem. Whatever! It’s still less annoying than “Firework”. At least she’s admitting that her husband Russell Brand came from another planet.
  10. Wynter Gordon – Putting It Out There (Pride) (DEBUT): Don’t get mad! We could have given this spot to a few other people, but we can’t get over Wynter’s enthusiasm for her gay fans. She’ll be performing along with Natalia Kills and Robyn at this year’s White Party. We totally wish we could be there!

  1. Black Eyed Peas – Just Can’t Get Enough
Jessie J – Price Tag (not sure if this has been on here yet)
    Alyssa Reid – Alone Again

*maybe with slow songs becoming more popular on here, you could think of bringing back Secret Love by Stevie Nicks! Such a great song. Have you seen the new album cover? Her looking smashing walking a white horse with a huge bubble in front of them!!!

I am getting tired of Adele. Rolling in the Deep is great, but this second single is a snooze-fest. Honestly, why didnt she release Set Fire To The Rain? I bought her album, liked it, but then got bored with it after a couple spins. Her voice, although at first listen to is beautiful, gets annoying fast.

Born This Way like Dewitt said is great! I dont see the Madonna rip off at all. Madonna loves this song. Fans love the song. Radio loves the song. When I go out clubbing, people go nuts over this song (straight and gay clubs).

  2. And a double dose of vote for Adele. She’s far and away the most talented vocalist on the chart. And she doesn’t need autotune, crazy-ass videos, dancers, sexy outfits or any gimmicks to get me to watch her perform and/or listen.

  3. I feel very late to the party, but I listened to Adele’s album yesterday and it’s amazing. Vote for bot her songs and Gaga.

Britney’s Femme Fatale also leaked yesterday and it’s packed with potential hits, especially “I Wanna Go” and “Inside Out.”

  4. Two votes for Adele and one for P!NK. I will give credit to Gaga for acknowledging the brilliance of Adele, though!

  5. So many awesome songs to vote for!!!! I had to give my support to EIGHT of them!

Two for Adele, and then votes for Lady Gaga, Britney, Rihanna, Usher, Jennifer Lopez and a huge welcome back vote for Katy Perry!!!!

  6. I have two tracks from two very different ladies to suggest:

    – Ultra Nate: Turn it up. Pure dance energy and with a little touch that reminds you of Donna Summer.

    – Yasmin: Finish line. She is also a DJ in England and this is her second single that could become her breakthrough in the charts. Freemasons are remixing it so she will get more exposure.

  7. Ehm. Madonna never really gave her blessings for Born this way. The crap Gaga said on Jay Leno is total bull and not true. Madonna just stayed quiet about this whole thing and never said she liked it. And that’s probably the right thing to do.

  8. am passionate about “ET” – but can’t stand the kanye part — love the katy-solo-version!!

  9. Glad to see Adele at the top, even though she was great before this song came out. The rest of this chart is garbage. I don’t need Gaga or P!nk to remind my me life is valid

  10. Adele is the beef to Britney’s bread. Have you tried to listen to Adele’s album for several days ? I can’t. It’s too much. But when it hits the nerve, it’s perfect.

  11. She did? That’s pretty damn classy of her. 🙂 Granted, they aren’t really musical ‘rivals’ since their styles and fanbases are pretty different, but it’s still cool.

  12. I voted for Adele, Rihanna, Pink, J-Lo, and Katy Perry. For next week I’d like to see Black Eyed Peas and Yasmin in the countdown.

  13. I know that everyone is thinking it. Rebecca Black – Friday. It’ll be number 1 instantly!
    We we we so excited!

  14. – Ultra Nate Turn It Up (LOVE THAT SONG!)
    – Yasmin: Finish Line (The Freemasons Club Mix is fucking awesome)
    – Black Eyed Peas: Just Can’t Get Enough (Check the Damon Paul Remix)
    – Snoop Dogg Vs David Guetta: Sweat (Another smash club hit)

It’s time to let winter go and bring in some happy music for spring and summer, although I love Adele and continue to vote for her.

  15. I like Rolling In the Deep, but this new song by her is just awful! I cannot listen to her album in one sitting.

I wish peeps would vote for who they like and not vote to eliminate people from the chart (e.g. Kesha, Katy Perry, Gaga).

  16. I can’t believe Pink is going to be eliminated!!! It looks the same as Rihanna.

As a straight female who loves this site for music and hot men, I have to say you guys are ruthless with each other!

Here we are at a time when artists are standing on your side, backing you up, producing music just for you, fighting your cause – and all they get is total backlash from you.

I don’t remember a single year that there were so many gay anthems – Raise Your Glass, We R Who We R, Firework, Born This Way. All of these songs got bashed to death on this site. It is amazing, I go to str8 clubs, and str8 guys and girls love these songs and the messages they convey.

It’s like you guys cry cuz no one is listening and u get no attention, but then we you get attention and finally someone is listening, you can’t deal with it.

I wanted to come on here for awhile now and post my thoughts, but some of you like NEX are completely scary and awful with comments.

  17. Oh and p.s. there are some amazing remixes of the Black Eyed Peas new song Just Cant Get Enough. I love Fergie!!

Also, where the heck has Gwen Stefani been? Anyone know?

  18. lol Mel, didn’t know i was popular for having scary comments.

to be honest, i’m just trying to be objective here.

all of those songs you mentioned are nice with message they convey, but they all appeal to general ‘underdogs’ and not specifically lgbt, with the exception of gaga’s born this way which specifically indicates lgbt among other things.

anyhow, just cos katy perry called me a plastic bag i ain’t gonna love her song. it’s a good song, but not that great.

don’t really love pink’s song, cos of profanity, and the chorus is really weak compared to the verse and pre-chorus.

kesha’s we r who we r is about dancing and kesha is irritating overall.

born this way is great. i will probably include it in the top 5 of my annual hit list. but the song is a madonna rip off without madonna getting any credit for it, and me and my grand justice attitudes have issues with that.

anyhow, it’d good that there are songs like that out there and it’s true that there have been so many of them recently, but who knows why.

  19. i love adele songs and it’s absolutely certain she will occupy no.1 and no.2 positions next week. well deserved.
    gaga deserves no.3 position.
and britney is ok for no.4
j.lo is so so. rihanna’s track is very good, pity if she falls off.
but since adele’s “rolling” will be eliminated this week, there’d be some extra space for s&m 🙂
for the next couple of weeks it’s gonna be adele’s second single reign on here (most likely), i dont think britney will manage to get to no.1 and i wonder if gaga can return there either.
oh well… why am i making this chart analysis at 4 am,,,
