Presented Without Commentary…

US citizen Alex Wiles (above) is for a proposed amendment in his home state of North Carolina that would define marriage in the state constitution as between one man and one woman, and would ban any other type of “domestic legal union” such as civil unions and domestic partnerships. Same-sex marriage is already illegal in North Carolina, but this would add the ban to their state constitution.

Someone in his neighborhood (in the video he says “near my house”) posted a sign asking the public to vote against the amendment. His response to the sign is after the break.

Please leave your opinion in the comments.

  1. If state constitutions are so easy to amend…then ultimately these bigotted clauses will be redressed.  The world is changing, and it’s to be expected that some will react against that change.

It’s really annoying to watch in real time though.

  2. …and thats why people with an IQ lower than 10 shouldn’t be allowed to vote.

  3. wow.. americans reaction to something they don’t like “quick shoot it yall”. and wonder why to the rest of us on the outside they’re just a big joke lol

  4. Marriage these days is a bigger joke than New Coke was in the 80s that inevitably ends in a divorce.  We are programmed to think we need marriage to be complete/happy. All it does is serve to make people slaves to one another and then a benefactor at the expense of the other once the marriage dissolves.

Thanks, but ban it all around and help save what’s left of society. If it must be kept, make it more difficult to get married and more difficult to get divorced with stronger, more lasting repercussions.

Then maybe people will actually “think” about getting married instead of treating it like some whimsical, fun event that can be cancelled out of easily when the road gets rocky or when someone else who is better, younger, and prettier comes along.

  5. Shooting a sign is so idiotic that I really do not understand how people would be offended by it.

  6. If you noticed, the dude shot the damn thing twice and it WAS STILL STANDING!

  7. As a resident of North Carolina, this is embarrassing. North Carolina gets such a bad rep for rednecks and hillbillies such as this. About 63% of the population doesn’t understand or even know what the amendment is for. There are several consequences from this amendment, and that is why we are trying to get it voted out. People need to educate themselves on this.

  8. Sure, why don’t we say no to cooking our food. We might as well put a ban on walking, because that’d be ridiculous, we should all be driving at this point. There’s absolutely no reason why people should have kitchens in their homes either, because with the abundance of restaurants having a kitchen is just superfluous.

Oh, and seriously, we should just stop creating laws to ensure order. Humans have the ability to know what is right and wrong, we don’t need silly little laws to tell us. While we’re at it, why don’t we completely ban procreation. Who needs the human race? The animal kingdom would survive without us, trust me!

    #idiot.

  9. He obviously has a phD in stupidity, he’s a homophobe because he knows no gay man would be interested in his small mind, small dick, and big belly, and btw a shotgun always solves all problems, just saying…..

  10. I’m transferring to NC from Chicago for work on Friday.
    I now regret my decision.

  11. Come to Canada insetad.  Not only can you get married, you can’t easily get a shotgun.

  12. if you think that’s bad, i am from TN and we have a proposed law called, “the don’t say gay” law that would make it illegal for teachers to talk about homosexuality before grade nine.  they could be fired, fine, even arrested if they do!  and the right wing morons in the state gov also passed a law that would make it ok for teachers to teach creationism in the classroom!   it’s fucking insane!  btw, before i could watch this video it was apparently removed  🙁

  13. Life never ceases to amaze me, thanks you all for the entertaining and enlightening comments {:^)

  14. Goes to prove, we have a ways to go before actual equality.  Hmmm   With 1 out of every 3 marriages ending in divorce, I think society instead of banning or trying to change state constitutions to ban gay marriages should focus on the people who are actually making a mockery of marriage they are the ones destroying the sanctity of marriage not gay people who want to legally get married.

  15. Joe.My.God has a mirrored video.

    joemygod.blogspot.com

Also, Joe called the cops on him and managed to get the idiot arrested for discharging a firearm in a residential area.

  16. i too am a resident of north carolina and it is too my home state and i have to see the constant parade of signs that say “vote FOR amendment one” it’s sad really but whoever thinks the bible belt is going to change anytime soon is an idiot. and also it’s not nearly as bad as the tennessee legislature “don’t say gay” some of you should look it up and see what THAT is all about.

  17. I would suggest that the people of North Carolina have a more worrisome threat to their community than legal same sex-unions…like an angry guy firing a rifle in his back yard. Um…where are the kids?

  18.  Wow… Snotty Europeans’ reaction to American assholes:

“Well, they must all be assholes, because these guys are the loudest. Would you be a dear and pass the Austeri-Tea?”

You like what I did there? That was an allusion to how civilization on your side of the Pond is teetering on the verge of total economic collapse, and your leadership has it so backward that it’ll be a decade before you see the light at the end of the tunnel.

But yeah, we’re a big joke. Hell, I’m laughing as I write this.
