M.I.A. f/ Missy Elliott & Rye Rye: “Bad Girls” (Switch Remix)

Around the same time that Madonna released her dreadfully forgettable lead single which we should never speak of again, her collaborator and bird-flipping Superbowl co-bitch M.I.A. made a return to form (after the dreadfully scattered /\/\/\Y/\ album) with an excellent track known as “Bad Girls”.

Though the video received around 30 million views*, the song failed to catch on in any major way. Radio was waiting for another immediately-likable earworm like “Paper Planes”, and frankly that’s probably never going to happen (which is for the best, since M.I.A.’s at her best when she’s not trying so hard).

Alas, what’s done is done… Or is it??? In an attempt to breathe new life into “Bad Girls”, M.I.A. will be re-releasing the single on July 3 as an exclusive USB memory stick, featuring remixes by Switch, Danja and Leo Justi and additional vocals by Missy Elliott, Rye Rye and Azealia Banks.

The first offering from the collection was liberated from M.I.A.’s musical vault yesterday afternoon, and while it’s not the mind-blowing experience I wanted it to be, it’ll make the perfect soundtrack to the first (official) summer weekend… So, uh, let’s get sweaty and fuck to this (or something like that).
