Exclusive Interview with Porn Star and Director Michael Lucas

Babypanda

You may have heard of this guy named Michael Lucas, eh? As the CEO and founder of Lucas Entertainment, he not only directs the majority of the studio's films but also stars in them. And in case you didn't notice, he's no stranger to controversy and making headlines. MANHUNT chatted with Lucas about everything from the GayVN Awards to whether or not mega-hung Ben Andrews plays catcher in his spare time.

We still don't believe him on the latter topic, but that doesn't make us less "excited" to see his upcoming film Entrapment. The flick is based on true stories of NYPD officers targeting gay sex shops, and If anyone can make something so drab sexy… it's surely Mr. Lucas!

Read our interview below:

The blogs were all buzzing about your decision to hop on stage during the GayVN Awards and call out the judges for nominating and voting for Brent Corrigan. What moved you to take such action?

I've worked in the industry for 13 years and it hurts me to know that the industry has such a cliched reputation as a sleazy factory of child abuse and exploitation. I'm definitely upset when I hear confirmation of it.

Corrigan responded to the situation on his blog, stating "I have apologized and made arrangements in the past to do what I could to set right what was so very wrong about my underage work." Do you think there's anything he could do to amend his previous mistakes?

It's not about him. It's about the industry. To keep using him and celebrating him signals to other models that it's ok to forge your IDs, perform underage in bareback films and cash in on your notoriety, because sooner or later you'll be forgiven and able to thrive on all the publicity.

Several commenters on MANHUNT Daily suggested that the two of you just "fuck and make up" on film. What's your reaction to that sentiment?

You know, this is not a laughing matter. I don't have a conflict with this model, who I've never exchanged a word with. My problem is with the industry and the industry only. Those who post such comments either don't understand the issue or don't care about the problem of sex with underage models.

Aside from Corrigan, some bloggers wrote that you appeared to be upset about Raging Stallion's To The Last Man sweeping the awards. You've mentioned in previous interviews that you don't watch porn, but did you happen to check out the competition before or after the ceremony?

I certainly did not get upset because someone else won Best Picture. I got the award for Best Picture two years in a row for Dangerous Liaisons and Michael Lucas' La Dolce Vita. I obviously cannot receive this award every year. It's never happened at any awards ceremony–be it the Oscars or the GayVNs. As to whether or not I watched the movie, I actually did. As a producer, I can say that the budget for this movie was nowhere near the $200,000 the studio is claiming to have spent. It was filmed on an existing location, and you can't write a check to Mother Nature. Models are paid from $1000 to $1500 tops, and airfare ranges from $200 to $500. Models lived in tents, so do the math.

Speaking of controversies, you made a few headlines for your comments about homophobia in the black community. Are there any black porn actors who you'd love to see in one of your films?

Well, I'm sure you know that I'm the only big studio that uses African American models. I stand for what I said– the reason that so few clean cut black men want to do porn is the homophobia in the African American community.

Who would be your number one fantasy bottom to film a scene with?

You know I don't discriminate against anyone, and I'm into guys of any race, ethnic background, and age. So I'm really not picky and I find something sexy about every man.

From the videos we’ve seen, you were the top in all of them. If you absolutely had to film a scene as a bottom, who would be on top?

I don't think this is applicable to me, because I absolutely don't have to do what I don't have to do. That's the beauty of being your own boss.

Do you prefer to be behind or in front of the cameras?

I really like both. I think that after so many years in business, I do know how to make a hot scene and how to show a model looking his best. And yes, I like very much to perform, as I'm a very sexual person and love sex.

What's the most radical idea you've had for a film? With FARTS! out of the way, I can't even imagine!

I don't have radical ideas. My motivator is supply and demand. I pay attention to what fans and members of LucasEntertainment.com write, and I'm not shy to fulfill their requests. There are many different fetishes and I'm not about to judge them. I'm in the business where you should be very accepting and tolerant to people's fantasies.

We read somewhere that you started out doing straight porn. Do you still fool around with women? Have you ever met a woman who did oral better than some of your Lucas castmates?

I think the last time I had with a woman was three years ago. I consider myself to be 100% gay and in my experience, men definitely perform oral best.

Judging by that video you made with the baby doll, you're looking for new models. What does it take to be a Lucas man?

Well, the video with the doll really was a joke. But yes, I'm always looking for models. Ideally, models should have a hot face and a great, in-shape body. It's very easy to apply. Just fill out a form at LucasCasting.com. The procedure is very simple. When a model comes in, he takes off his clothes, we take a polaroid and then he answers a few questions. Applicants also need to bring photo ID to verify that they are of legal age.

We hear that Ben Andrews is a big ol' bottom in his personal time… true or false? Is there any other juicy gossip we should know about the world of Lucas Entertainment?

No, Ben Andrews is not actually a bottom. That I know for sure. But he definitely is very much more into oral sex than anal. If you want gossip, check out my blog, LucasBlog.com

How has the gay community reacted towards your safe-sex and anti-drug advocacy work?

It's been an absolutely great response, and I never expected anything but positive feedback. Sex education is incredibly important, especially nowadays with the lack of funding for it, and most young people derive their knowledge from porn films.

What do you think is more damaging to the gay community–online cruising or club culture?

Neither. As long as you do not become a sex addict, online hookups are very convenient and exciting. There is nothing wrong with clubbing. But again, one should moderate themselves. I personally very rarely go out late, as I have to get up in the morning to go to the gym and the office.

  1. this guy is a horrible interviewee… every response he gives somehow deflects the question into a boring, almost rhetorical response… way to promote your business, by boring potential clients/fans in an interview.

  2. Nice interview. It was straightforward and informative. Lucas answered the questions professionally and appears to have a full grasp of his business and its surroundings. He is acutely aware of the pitfalls of the industry, and obviously he is commercially successful.
If all anyone can do is comment negatively about his appearance or the style of his interview, while missing some important points about his business, then the man must be doing something right. Keep up the great work, Michael!

  3. Dude, the guy has been in the business for like, over a decade. He obviously must be doing something right…and having a huge wang doesn’t hurt either 😉

  4. mmmm yum I love him. hot, smart, and it’s attractive that he has morals and ethics in his business.
