Czech Republic Castrates Sex Offenders

Where do they cut out your balls if you're a sex offenderThe Czech Republic

Over the last decade, nearly 100 inmates have been castrated by prison officials who claim that the quick procedure effectively reduces recidivism (repeat criminals) because it dramatically decreases testosterone levels and sex drive.

Unsurprisingly, some have called this cruel and unusual punishment.

"According to the Council of Europe, the region's leading human-rights body, the procedure is "invasive,
irreversible and mutilating." In a report issued last week, the council
called the punishment "degrading" and demanded it be scrapped
immediately."

Rape and child molestation are serious, traumatizing crimes but I agree that castration is barbaric. And what happens when a convict is discovered to be innocent? You can't exactly say "Oops," and put his balls back in.

What do you think?

  1. Not only is punishing criminals by mutilating their genitals cruel and inhuman, it also will not protect the public from them when they are released. Castration will definitely thwart a sex offender’s sex drive … until he can get his hands on drugs for testosterone replacement therapy.

  2. I think that a this would be fine for a multiple sex offender. I also think that knowing that such a punishment exists may thwart some of them from commiting a sex crime in the first place. Society has gotten to be such a way where maybe these kinds of punishments are becoming necessary.

  3. @John and Nicky: It’s a good thing that the U.S. is not an idiocracy, yet. Firstly, there is no “proven-without-a-doubt” case. ALL jurisprudence is fallible (do you know what “jurisprudence” and “fallible” mean? probably not.) Why? Because human beings and our judgement are fallible. Human society has progressed to the point where irreversible punishments are no longer useful, or necessary.
Let’s go back to John: “Society has gotten to be such a way where maybe these kinds…” Look, if you can’t form a simple, proper English sentence–oh, native English speaker–perhaps your opinions on grave matters should be kept to yourself. Instead, may I suggest you enjoy an episode of American Idol, or the like? Let those with I.Q.’s over 100 worry about more serious matters, thanks.

You need to learn who you’re flaming against as the quotation you’re having a go at, was NOT by John it was Dan. But then again that’s not surprising to see someone so ill informed of the Queens English!

  5. I see no problem with castrating sex offenders who have repeatedly molested children, because adults sexually molesting kids is the very definition of barbaric. Yes, there is a risk that innocent men might be castrated, but if the punishment is reserved for multiple offenders, the risk is reduced sufficiently. And to be quite blunt, abusing children is “invasive, irreversible and mutilating” – castrating criminals is anything but.

  6. The initial desciption of this issue is not well written. One castrates someone by “cutting off his balls” or by
“surgically removing his balls” but NOT by “cutting OUT his balls” as the guy from Manhunt writes.

  7. It’s an emotive subject, when you see reports on the news about people who have been sexually abused it’s hard not to get worked up by it. i certainly believe castration falls under the same category as capital punishment, what if the unspeakable happens and an innocent person is punished? However, the people above suggested it be reserved for repeat offenders or cases where there is irresputable proof (irresputable does exist)
I believe a one off offence should be treat with prison time where reform is the primary aim. But for those people who are unable to reform, and continue to offend, there is nothing left but to take away their ability to hurt society any more.
Also, if you look at the statistics, think about how many sex offenders there must be in the czech republic, if only 100 have been punished in this way, then surely they are showing some restraint in their use of the punishment…
Can i just close by asking you people that only came on here to bitch and moan about peoples spelling to give it a rest and get a life, im much more interested in your opinions, not whether the author of this article said ‘off’ or ‘out’…

  8. At first I agreed with this and then I changed my mind..
A criminals behaviour is based upon their background, upbringing and general mental state.
Who’s to say a castrated parole wont go out and still harm children, their urge would be too great to ignore, even with a diminished sex drive..
Just leave them in jail where they belong, not on our streets.

  9. Having been raped when I was in my 20s, on my way home if I had been able to find the man at the time yes I would have cut his balls off and fed them to him.
I spent the night taking showers and wondering why, what did I do to him?
The police were called and since I was a male and gay they thought it was joke, they laughed at me.
Up until then I never really gave it much thought but what it does to a person you have no idea.
Till this day, even tho I have met some great looking sexy as hell black men, and get hot for them I just can’t bring myself to do anything with them.
I spent almost a year not going out and always making sure I was home before dark checking and rechecking the windows and doors to make sure they were locked. I was so afraid he knew where I lived.
So my answer would be yes do it if you know for sure they are the the rapist.

  10. first off catstration is barbaric and cruel. Second, considering this country’s classification of virtually anything a “sex offense” the idea of doing anythinglike that here is completely repugnant. I don’t know about you guys.. but I live in Utah where pissing in a dark alley is considered a sex offense and will get you listed on the national sex offender registry for the rest of your life.

  11. To Caladan… note that the person’s name for the comment is BELOW the comment, not ABOVE… so JOE was the flamer, not NICKYBOY. Talk about engaging the brain… dumbass.
