Ciara: “Got Me Good”

It doesn’t matter what the charts say. It doesn’t matter what the critics say. Hell, it doesn’t even matter what you fucking say. Ciara is back and better than ever. With tepid release after tepid release, we thought she had Nicole Scherzinger‘d herself into obscurity, but her brand spanking new single “Got Me Good” brings her back to the heyday of Goodies and The Evolution.

The freestyle-tinged track calls to mind the frenetic energy of Missy Elliott‘s “Lose Control”, and it’s no coincidence that the rap-sung hooks (“My back’s achin’, my bra’s too tight”) nearly upstage the chorus and verses. Those are the types of lines you sing along to while drunkenly flopping around and pretending you’re sexy. Even if you’re, presumably, not wearing a bra… Not that we’re judging if you are wearing a bra.

Furthermore, the dancing.

You might want me to elaborate on that last sentence fragment, but I believe Ciara’s fancy footwork will speak for itself… Basically? She’s got us good. Now, all she has to do is maintain this momentum until the release of her fifth studio album One Woman Army.

  1. Daaaaaaaamn, this shit is hot. I didn’t think Basic Instinct was all that bad – Heavy Rotation is my fucking jam – but this is dope. Looking forward to her new album!

  2. it’s a bad song, you shouldn’t compare it to Missy Elliott!!
It s obvious that this girl is in the biz because of her looks, i see no discernable talent sorry

  3. I’m glad she’s getting more promotion and LA Reid/Epic is obviously doing a better job with her than Jive has ever done, but this is going in reverse. Ciara can’t sing and doing trite pop/R&B with her hasn’t worked since Goodies.

She really shines on hard dance and gritty/sexy R&B. This song could have been fire if it didn’t have such an awful chorus break (My back is achin’/My bra’s too tight….ugh). She is too old to be making teen music.
Check out her unreleased Secret and Up & Down to see what CiCi is really capable of. I guarantee those songs will get anyone pregnant.
