Can Everyone Please Stop Collaborating With Pharrell?

Pharrell
Look, I love Pharrell Williams as much as the next guy. In fact, I used to make entire mixtapes exclusively out of songs he produced with The Neptunes. And, well, have you seen the man's abs?

With that love, there is a dose of concern over the unpredictable nature of his recent work. The man somehow managed to make Solange Knowles sound like a 1960s girl-group diva on "I Decided", but single-handedly (okay, I guess Timbaland helped too) reminded us how old Madonna was with his Hard Candy contributions.
So you can imagine how disconcerted I was when I heard Mr. Williams has been in the studio with music blog darling Santigold. Based on their work together on that shiteous Converse song "My Drive Thru", I can't imagine Santi and Skateboard P making it work.
You know what makes me even more nervous? Pharrell is going into the studio with Rihanna. You know what makes me kind of infuriated? He'll also be working with Shakira, Sara Bareilles and… Incubus? So much for fucking yourself in your own way…

  1. First off, it’s Santogold! I definitely believe that Pharrell is a very talented man (I actually give him more props than say Timbaland)… Though, the truth is that both of them are very innovative producers… Yes, they can lay it on thick and should really think about who they choose to collab with but a man has to make $$$. I actually really really really love Santogold and hope she will use him for only some of her songs because she is actually a really great producer on her own.
