Bright Light Bright Light: “Feel It”

Bright Light Bright Light

Why isn’t Bright Light Bright Light a bigger deal yet? Rod Thomas, the man behind the musical project, could accurately describe himself as “VGL” in his Manhunt profile. It also helps that his debut album Make Me Believe In Hope is a winner from start to finish, citing influences from three to four decades of dance/pop jams.

One minute he’s dabbling in early ’90s house, the next he’s doing ’80s synth-pop, and then he’s suddenly channeling Robyn (“Cry At Films”) and The Postal Service (“Immature”). It’s 41 minutes of pure greatness! There isn’t a single “dud” in the bunch.

The latest single “Feel It”, the sixth of his career overall, draws inspiration from those beloved nineties anthems that kept the club packed ’til the break of dawn. Appropriately, the music video’s a delightfully cheesy homage to clips from that period, featuring a cameo by Del Marquis of Scissor Sisters.

Are YOU feeling it? You should be.

  1. At the 3:00 minute mark, it really does remind me of Captain Hollywood Project and other 90’s dance artists. Up to that point, it just really seems like a track begging for a good remix. The lyrics are nice and it has a bit of a Pet Shop Boys quality to it. Maybe it’ll grow on me. Definitely will check out their other material.

  4. I’m a big fan of BLBL and enjoy his latest effort. Why his music hasn’t been released in the USA is a shame.
