Aural Only: Sky Ferreira

Usually, we tend to focus on official singles in our Aural Only and Weekly Top Ten series. This rule isn’t written in stone. Every now and then, a track comes along that’s so epically fantastic that we simply can’t resist it. In this case? It’s Sky Ferreira‘s “99 Tears”.

The song appears on the eighteen year old singer’s debut EP As If!, and it easily sticks out as the project’s main highlight. From the cartoony introduction to the very last shout of the chorus, we have a feeling some of you will wear out the repeat button on this one.

Not since Madonna‘s “Hung Up” have we ever been moved to dance to a song like an old white person with no rhythm. That all changed when we heard “99 Tears”. Awkward fist pumping? Check. Winding or stirring motions in the air? Double check. We’re so giddy, we don’t care if we look like idiots.

I know you hate Kesha, but are you going to be reviewing her new remix dance album? It is actually quite good, especially the remixes of Your Love is My Drug, Blow, Sleazy, and her new song Fuck Him He’s A Dj.

The album came out on Tuesday, and it’s called: I am the Dance Commander
